It appears that the new Saltgrass will be opening soon. We drove by and it looked like the employees were getting trained.

In case you have never eaten in a Saltgrass, it is a pretty good steak place. We have eaten in the one in Plano several times and it is always good.

If the quality is on par with it's other locations, it will instantly become the best "chain" steakhouse in the RGV. I'm so glad they're opening this place.

Ate there for lunch - no wait before 11:30. It was excellent and the wait staff was good.

Mrs OVR and I ate at Saltgrass today. Food was very good, service not quite as good as I was expecting. They had so many waiters that they were bumping into each other. We got there at 11:20 and were seated immediately, but it was hugely crowded by the time I left a little past 12:00. Go early!

Wife and I went last Saturday (5/10). Got there at about 5:15. Waited at the bar (luckily got there right as a couple was leaving so got chairs). Got seated at around 6:15. Food was excellent as was the service. As we were leaving at around 7:30 the folks waiting outside were saying that they were being told it was a two hour wait.

Drove by this past Saturday night on our way to meet some friends and it looked every bit as packed. Meanwhile the Longhorn Steakhouse just to the west had a less than half full parking lot....Saltgrass may spell the demise of that location.

I haven't eaten at the Longhorn Steakhouse on the expressway but I have eaten at the one on N. 10th. It would be a shame for the places to go out of business because I feel like the one on N. 10th is pretty good.

I figure that the crowds will diminish at Saltgrass after a while. When we ate at Saltgrass they got our order wrong and brought us a ribeye instead of the prime rib we ordered. Our waiter was from Cincinatti and was one of the trainers. He knocked the price in half because of their mistake. I figured that they were trying to train new folks and there was a lot of confusion (only open a couple of days, so that was ok.

Most of these establishments are going to stay in business or close because of their service. Most of the places in the valley have mediocre or worse service and that is the reason they stay for a while and then close...like Johnny Carinos on Nolana. I notice that Landsky and Brats is now just Landsky's!

It is always a nice treat to eat in Dallas and see the fine service these same restaurants have.

Pappadeux probably has the best service of any restaurant that I frequent. It's almost always excellent.

I agree. Unfortunately my wife detests seafood (I know she is mentally ill!) so we seldom go there. ...food is good too.

The chicken pasta there is really good. It's a great dish to split. Huge portions.

Wow! There was a review of Saltgrass in the paper and it did a number on it. Very negative review.
