A man is behind bars after being accused of stealing fajitas from HEB and then fleeing from police custody.
Johnny Cavazos and a woman he was with allegedly put the stolen fajitas in a diaper bag while they were at an HEB store in Harlingen on June 2nd.
The fajitas stolen from the store located off the expressway in Harlingen were valued at $145.04.
Loss prevention at the store was able to get the license plate to the vehicle the couple used to get away.
On June 6th, Harlingen Police Department conducted a traffic stop, which lead to the arrest of Cavazos.
He was then taken to the city jail for processing.
Police said he showed signs of illness, so he was transported by EMS to Harlingen Medical Center.
Cavazos then allegedly escaped from police custody while he was at the hospital.
On June 9th, Harlingen police spotted the SUV belonging to Cavazos in an alleyway.
Police said he became upset, pulled away from the officers and attempted to run.
Authorities were able to arrest him, and he was transported to the city jail.
Cavazos was issued a $12,000 bond for the charges of theft, resisting arrest and escape.
Not even in the second poorest country in this hemisphere does one see stupidity like this. Only in the RGV.
