I am taking the farm down the week before Christmas. We plan on doing lots of relaxing and fishing and cooking.

Will the good local restaurants be open?
We are SPI regulars but never been in the winter.

Any suggestions on things to do, besides the norm.

christmas day or just the season? i don't think anything shuts down unless it's christmas eve or day.

Everything pretty much will be open except for some of the 8/$10 t-shirt shops

There's an increasing number of snowbirds wintering on the island and PI now, even as the numbers in the rest of the RGV decline. Go to any buffet and bring a sack of empty tupperware bowls. You'll fit right in :-)

Even Windjammers and clubs like that will have live entertainment.
