Tomorrow I go to vote against the Hospital District. I can't figure out who is supposed to benefit from this new tax but it is certainly not the residents of the county. The hospitals and their constituents seem to have lots of money and slick ads on the TV. If this passes we will have another MAJOR tax on property owners within 3 years...just like STC! Remember that Hidalgo County will be requesting a massive tax increase shortly to pay for the new courthouse.

I hope that this is the concensus of the voters but I figure that most will vote for it because the do not own property, or they are just not very smart!

Gotta love non-property owners voting on property tax issues.

My understanding is that the proposed tax starts at .08 but has a ceiling up to .75 per $100! Wow!

If it pass some one should file suit that it violates the 3rd amendment of the
Constitution!

Interestingly, the supporters are now saying it only failed because the wording was bad. They are saying that they will change the wording a little and put it back on the next ballot again! I knew this would happen. If it fails again it will return again and again unil the hospitals are successful in getting their hands on the tax rolls. Once that happens the rate will increase dramatically just like the same situation that happened to STC.

I am certainly not happy to think that any additional tax money from my fast shrinking pocketbook will go to anything having to do with tu, or these high priced hospitals.
