my winning drive was 355, into a 8-10 MPH wind. they jacked up the prices to $40 per attempt (6 balls), so i only hit one set. i hit around 5:00 because i thought they were shutting the event off at 6:00. i almost got "winded" because they allowed hitting until 7:15 and the wind had died down to 1-2 MPH. there were several guys hitting 3-4 sets of balls. a couple guys hit it 350 late in the day, so i just hung on. i am confident that i could have hit it 375+ if i decided to hit with the calm wind conditions. my long drive club is an Alpha 830-2 on a Harrison Long Drive Shaft (XXX-stiff). the shaft was about 2.25" longer than normal when i got it, but i have cut it down to maybe 1" or 1.25" longer than a normal shaft. i hit a Ping G5 as a play driver. i am pleased with my performance Sunday, as I had not really hit my Alpha in a couple months and I was a little banged up and stiff from a bad hangover. i'd say i was swinging in the 142-144 MPH range; i was clocked at 154 MPH last summer. anything in the upper 140's will give me a legitimate shot at winning in Nevada, i believe. i got 5 balls in at 355, 351, 348, 347, and 339.... there were about 25 guys who hit before me and my 5 drives would have been 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 7th. the wind was pretty brutal, so i was pleased.
