go to the southend of the island. a place called dirty al's. it's a restaurant and seafood market. it will be on the west side of the road right before you pay to get into isla blanca. check it out.

I had a friend recommend Dirty Al's. So the last time we went to the island we went by but it was closed for remodeling. (It used to be a bait stand!) Is it open again?

B&A's is good. Best place to buy fresh shrimp if you have someone who knows how to cook them right.

I went by B&A's a couple of weeks ago. The shrimp was pink and looked half cooked. I asked where it was from and the lady told me "From just up the coast". I asked where exactly and she said, "Louisiana".

I'll wait until the Texas shrimp season opens in a couple of weeks.

yes, I agree. B&A's was abo****ely terrible. I didnt want to mention a business by name but they were the subject of my original post. Dirty Al's had some good fresh shrimp and red snapper, but thats about it. Oh well fajitas and beer will have to do for tonight.

Ate at Al's two days ago...it was GOOD! They have a deal where they will cook what you catch so we took in the reds and specks that we caught that day and had them cook it.

I plan on eating at Dirty Al's this weekend...

B & A's is the best. Right now they are very low because the season hasn't started. I got some shrimp from them last week and cooked it and it was GREAT!! If they are out go across the street to the Quick Mart. They own that also, and sell out of there. Sometimes the Quick Mart has a better selection. That is where I got mine.

Also, when we left, B & A packed all 36lbs of the red fish I had caught so I could take it on the plane with me back home. They did an excelant job in packing an dry vac all of the fish. The airlines didn't blink an eye when I went through security.

What is B & A's?

B & A's is a seafood market in Port Isabel on hwy 100 about 6 blocks before the bridge. They have 3 of their own shrimp boats and bring in a fresh catch during season about every three days. I live in Cen Tex and have them ship to me all of the time.

I love dirty als, but it's has gotten a bit too crowded these days. So, now I just go drink my dinner at Wahoo Saloon! I have lived on the island for 15 years. Wahoo Saloon never fails me, margaritas and ceviche.

On Mondays, Dirty Al's has a special on oysters on the half shell, 4 bucks a dozen, I think. Its worth a trip over there just for that.

I haven't been to the island in sometime, but this discussion has convinced me. I am going down to check it out. While there I am going to stop in to eat at Dirty Al's and BA's to buy a couple of lbs of fresh shrimp for my wife to cook.

I think I saw an article in the paper yesterday about the blessing of the fleet so it must be the right season.

Man, we grilled 100 shishkabobs (steak/shrimp) had a fully stocked bar....and a hottub/pool. We stayed up drinking til 3am. 2am most nights. I think we consumed over $300 of beer and about $200 of liquor between me and my BIL. That and we had family in town it was hard to get up and just go without running them off.

The food was not bad this weekend. The fishing was great too. I wish I didn't have to sit in an office today while my family is still at SPI.

Not enough fishing. Our two boats were no go. One was in a tornado watch area and the other in a slip in an area that flooded. Took some bay fishing charter that produced enough for a decent size fish fry.

With that setup I would've stayed at home too Frac.

Still a shame....
