I am going to be stuck at the Harlingen Airport tomorrow for at least five hours waiting on family to pick us up on the way to South Padre. I have never been to this airport and was wondering what is was like. Are there are any places to eat or any wi-fi areas where I can do work from. Thanks for any input

Not a lot there. I was just there last week. There is a bar/diner over by the rental car area. I had some drinks and watched ESPN. Very clean though which was good. Why do you have to wait so long. It is only about a 30 - 40 minute drive to SPI. Rent a car and head on.

Flash-thanks for the info, I may rent a car, but I wont need it for the whole week so I would have to make a extra trip back up, guess I will wait to see how the boredem affects me then make my choice.

contact whatever hotel you're staying at and find out about a shuttle. even if the shuttle costs you 60 bucks at least you won't sit at that crappy airport for half a day.

look at this way....it's slightly larger than easterwood with 4 gates as opposed to 2 gates. and slightly larger aircraft fly in and out of there.

Suggestion, rent a car one way. Go to the Wanna Wanna Beach club, Have the best fried shrimp on the island and a few Coronas, while cheking out the beach and people, while waiting on the fam. May be the best 5 hours of your trip. Each day I was there, I went bay fishing then to Wanna Wanna for lunch and the view, then met up with the fam. Great trip.

Took a cab from the airport to my condo, cost 80 bucks but I am here in the condo doing my work with a view of the ocean. Much better than HIA. Thanks for all the suggestioins and we will be headed to wanna wannus shortly

Excellent choice. There's no way I would waste 5 beach hours at the airport if I had any kind of transportation.
