I grew up in a "small" town in Texas, but how is it on that strip of 35? Particularly for a young couple with a 3 year old.

Benefits:

  • great place to see wildlife like rattlesnakes and roadrunners
  • don't have to deal with any of that nonsense called civilization
  • no need to worry about a cell phone bill, since they don't work there
  • experience other cultures (habla espanol?)
  • it's the only high school in Texas whose colors are camouflage and red clay

If you are redneck and like to shoot things all day, then that is your place.

It is between Laredo and San Antonio on I-35. The only city in that county is Cotulla, TX.

You should probably tell us what you will be doing there and then we can tell you if you are going to make the biggest mistake of your life or not.

Here's a few facts for you from the US Census Bureau

This thread might be some of your last TexAgs posts, because I don't think they have the internet there yet.

Seriously, are you choosing to go there?

Unless you are in the ranching/hunting industry, I'm not sure there's much there.

Not going there...yet. Just entertaining the thought. I'm a wildlife sciences guy so I'm throwing out job applications almost everywhere. Trying to get my career going again. Any area in Texas within 1 hour or so of some metroplex will be considered. The border counties, west Texas, and the Panhandle are out of the question.
I'm most concerned with my wife(pediatric physical therapist)finding a job she likes, and my son getting the therapy he needs.

I really don't know what you are expecting, but by reading your post, I think you have needs that WILL NOT be met in Cotulla, TX. Seriously. And actually, moving to the RGV or Laredo would be better than that.

BBB - I knew you would come around to the dark side at some point. I'm not as bad as I may lead to believe.

If you decide to move there make sure you try to buy the mineral rights of your property, lots of oil and gas drilling in that area...you can thank me later.

I live in LaSalle...not a bad place, but does have some drawbacks in your situation. I would suggest McMullen Cty--great school and close enough to Pleasanton/Jourdanton for your wife/child to get the medical attention/job your talking about. They have a pretty good hospital system there.
