After all these years of being jealous of all the Green Ghosts in CS watching other college games as they tailgate I have finally decided to give in and set mine up instead of watching over their shoulders.

I looked online to see what information Direct TV had on their website but it was not very useful. Does any know how exactly this works? I believe I have all the needed hardware; power supply, satellite, TV, box, active card. Can anyone provide any insight as to what else I need or how the whole process works?

I know Sui and MB are some what of experts in this field. Any help would be appreciated Ags.

That is about all you need. You need to subscribe to DirecTV and have a decent power supply to run everything.

Getting locals in College Station can be a problem if you're taking your box from here - I think. Anybody that has one working is usually pretty helpful.

We've had ours going for 5 years now in Spence. Where are you tailgating at?

You would need another antenna. But the locals really wouldn't matter when it comes to watching games anyhow b\c the B/CS CBS affiliate is going to show the same game as the RGV CBS affiliate.

The last time I tried to setup a directv dish we didn't have locals because we were out of the 'spot beam'. Has something changed?

Yea I've heard that you can possibly call them and have them setup a temporary move. If the first service rep can't do it just hang up and call back until you get one that does.

We are always in Lot E across the street from Reed Arena. Nice area because you can unload your tailgate stuff and park your truck about 30 ft from where you are set up. Makes getting there and leaving that much easier, and plenty of open grass spots if you get there early.

As far as the subscription to DirectTV or Dish Net, something I've done is to find a buddy who already subscribes and bum a receiver off them for the weekend.

Yea i think you can get houston & austin locals in bcs. Spence is nice because you have march in and spirit walk right there. We also like hanging out and watching some games at halftime since our seats are so close on the east side. As you mentioned tho - we usually don't leave for at least an hour after the game.

I was up there for the game but wasn't able to get the power supply (generator) I wanted for last week. I should be picking it up tomorrow or Wednesday and be good to go for this weekend.

I realized this past week that our tailgate is the least advanced of all of them. Just a bunch of sitting around and drinking of cold beverages. No TV or radio.

Any recommendations for power? I'm set on buying a Honda generator one of the quiet ones and using that. I just recently bought a travel trailer also so I am going to use it for that also.
