Cumberland Park. The new giant shopping center
That place had so much potential

I was told this was supposed to be like Southlake town square. In appearance at least. Instead it's ugly and filled with discount shops. Woo-hoo!

Yup... You would cry if you saw the original plans for that place. The price point may have been high initially but the potential was there to be a venue people would come to not just shop for crap. Oh well... Tyler gonna Tyler

If I have a specific reason (AT&T Store, BB&B), I'll make the drive.

But between my little shelter and that distant location are Bergfeld Shopping Center, the Mall, the French Quarter, Lowe's shopping center, the little shopping center where Macy's (or whatever is in there now) and those other stores are, the little shopping center where Jason's Deli is, etc.; and you can walk from store to store.

I have been surprised to see that if you go to the Cumberland deal (and how they think they're going to make that hotel come out, I do. not. know.) you have to DRIVE from store to store if you want to shop broadly. Good luck in the summer heat or on rainy days, not to mention the hassle.

I know there must be some real smart guys totin' the note, but I'm glad it's them and not me (even on the bicycle rack that I might have been able to finance).

Talked to the owners of Stanleys last weekend, and they are opening a new pizza place called Roast within the next year. I have no idea what "Roast" has to do with pizza, but they said that verb names for restaurants are the "in" thing right now. It's going to be in the 5th St / TJC area. Should be interesting.

They make damn fine BBQ so I will at least give them a chance to supplant my current favorite pizza joint, rounders.

Rounders is pretty good, but try Gusanos. Especially if your into Chicago style!

They have regular crust pizzas too. Lots of specialty sauces. Nice!

I saw you post on the realtor thread about Brad Newberry. Do you know him well? You and I may know each other too. I go to church with him.

I'll chime in.

We know the Newberry's well, so we all probably have lots of friends in common. It's Tyler after all.

As far as pizza goes, Rounders is my favorite in town as well. We tried Gusanos and only thought it was OK. IMO, not bad, but not great.

What makes rounders your favorite? I have not been there yet.

Also we have a new pizza place going in at Broadway and 5th, across from the jack in the box.

I'm also interested in the new pizza place in front of Harleys (next to the new Dakotas). Supposed to be a brick oven, specialty kind of place.

We just like their pizza the best. The atmosphere is nothing special, and I think that Gusanos and Rotolos (Sp?) have far better atmosphere. However, we just like the pizza. It's somewhere in the middle between a floppy New York style pizza and a think Chicago style pizza. I'm not saying it's the best pizza I've ever had, but it's probably my favorite in town.

I actually really liked the atmosphere at Gusanos. The night we went they had live music on the porch, even though it was too hot to sit out there. They also have a nice bar area, and it would be a good place to get pizza, beer, and watch a game.

I've heard the pizza place near Harleys is a pizza/red wine place. I think it will be a little more upscale.

Their Twitter feed had a picture of the giant oven they special ordered from Italy. It's huge. And the restaurant is complete I think. They just put up a wall blocking the view of timberwilde from those two restaurants and the back pad site. I think they'll open soon.

I have no idea if the back pad is more retail or restaurant.

Rounders is close to my house, which is why I ask. I've done gusanos and rotolos.

Thanks for posting that. Drove by today, and it looks close from the outside, and there were more than a few cars i the parking lot. I'm a little surprised to hear early November, but I guess there is more going on inside than meets the eye.
