I saw you also posted on the job board. Where have you looked so far? Right now, i don't know of any specific openings, but definitely go online and check the following:

Capacity of Texas
Joy Global (They are on their ass right now, but I know they need a hydraulics engineer)
J-W Energy/Operating
Crosby/Lebus
Trinity Tank Car
Stemco
Warfab
Texas Eastman / Flint Hills Resources / Westlake Chem (They all operate in that same facility)
SW Steel Castings
Rexaam Beverage
Norris Cylinder

Those are the large manufacturing plants in Longview I can think off of the top of my head. If you find any openings, let me know. I have contacts at most of those places. They may not be of much help in landing the job, but they can probably point you in the right direction.

I'm not sure where you live, but Lone Star Steel (US Steel) might be worth looking into.

Also, any other towns a possibility? Tyler? Jacksonville? Henderson? Marshall? Mt Pleasant? Gilmer? Etc... Obviously not as many opportunities in many of those towns, but they all have some decent sized manufacturing plants.

I've had interviews at Stemco but it came to no avail. I've applied at the Rio plant in Marshal, Joy Global and IngersolRand and never heard back.

I've looked around and would definitely consider a position within an hours distance of Longview.

What position at Joy Global? I know the engineering Manager there well. If it is an in plant position on the manufacturing floor, I probably couldn't assist much.

I'm not familiar with the MMET degree... but Eastman's always looking for engineers with 2-3 yrs of experience... Westlake too.

There's also a DCP gas plant in Carthage, a gas plant in Waskom (Centerpoint?), a gas plant in White Oak (Gas Solutions), Delek Refinery in Tyler.... lots of power plants (Martin Creek, Knox Lee, Pirky.... etc), don't know if Dana is still in business in Longview, there's a refinery on the west side of Shreveport (used to be Calumet).

Quality Engineer at Joy Global

Eastman seems to only be hiring ChemE but I have applied anyway. It seems to be a bit of a tough market since oil went up. A lot of people have ended up unemployed.

Look at Westlake Chem and Flint Hills Resources. They both operate out of the Texas Eastman Facility in Longview

I was turned down for positions at Westlake and Delek, and a position I originally applied for at General Dynamics was cancelled.

I have applied at SW Steel Castings, Warfab, Tyler Pipe, KP Engineering, Norris Cylinder, and EPC (they didn't have any openings).

I still am working on applying at Capacity of Texas, Triumph, Rexaam Beverage, and General Dynamcs (for other positions).
