All things change. Time takes care of that. I am a senior citizen and I recommend that you take pictures of your home town's now, and in later life, you will treasure those pictures.

Good to hear McCann St Grill is back open. Spent some time there back in the 80s. A few more I thought of are Oxford Street Restaurant (formerly a Steak and Ale, I think), Luby's Cafeteria, Carlito's Restaurant, The Bedroom Shop, Uncle Joe's Italian, Gonzales Mexican, South Green Miniature Golf, Hagler Toyota, ServiStar (next to Payless Cashways), CHIX Bar & Grill (now Paige Pub), SEARS, Pegues-Hurst Ford, Lowell Holloway Furniture, and David Williams Collision & Repair (the best).

Uncle Joe's moved to Hallsville and reopened as Gino's sometime after the fire. Same food, we eat there on occasion and it's good.

I remember Mickey Mantle's, Burger Chef, Treasure City, Wacker's (next to Brookshire's) and Tony's Sporting Goods.

I always got my baseball gloves at Tony's.

Will need citations on all of these. Never heard of them. Especially Mickey Mantle's.

Mantle's was on hwy 80. Not sure of the other ones. I remember when Dudley was just a trailer in his front yard before it was a restaurant. PT c/o '99

Small world eh? Played baseball through HS, was a fan of coach Turner. Only keep up with a handful of folks from those days. We had a great 20 year reunion, but the 30th went by this year without a mention. Damn we're getting old...

Ha. Loved Buster. He was made the coach over our 9th grade basketball team and had no f'ing idea what he was doing.

"Scott, get in there we need some hustle!"
"......uh, Coach, Scott is already in the game."

Shoneys in Longview- Wednesday night breakfast buffet and kids ate for a dollar or were free. We were one income family then, wore that place out and kids thought it was fantastic!

Coach Turner was great coach and man. I really loved Darby and Bates too. Coach Friday was a class act-- RIP. Dan Grahm was the GOAT! Maybe, we need to have an Ag/Pirate lunch sometime.

Yeah Buster was great, kept in touch with him as much as I could. I remember Darby, Bates and Friday but didn't have them as coaches, and didn't know he had passed. He seemed like a straight shooter. Our 30 year is now in October, I think we'll catch a football game and hang out at McCann st on Sat. I've never seen the new football stadium.

Buster coached me in junior high, small world, he was tough! I played under Dickey Meeks in 96, 97, and 98. Played against Toombs and Richard Whitaker. Grew up around Ja'Mar Toombs, we played together in "little league" in 5th grade and he wasn't allowed to run the ball because he was too heavy. He intercepted a pass one time and it was laughable as he dragged 3 kids into the end zone. The rumor was his mom got a job at Kilgore ISD and I had to get run over by him a few times. Graduated class of '99

Mickey Mantle's - A neighbor boy went to the grand opening and waited in line four hours to meet Mantle and get an autographed baseball. Unfortunately, he let us play with it and the Mick's signature had faded away by the end of the day.

There used to be a pool at the end of Reel Road where it meets the old Pine Tree campus. Looks like its gone from satellite photos.
