Anyone have any thoughts on where the teams from the old district 12-5A with JT, Nac, Longview, Marshall, Lee, and Lufkin in it. Maybe a possible reuniting in the 06 re-alignment I'm hoping. I loved to see the games in that district. Let me know what yall think about the realignment and where the teams in the old distrct will end up.

I loved it a few years ago when they played each other twice. With such a strong group of teams you got to see GREAT games every week and you also had the chance for revenge.

but they were also so beat up that when they got to the playoffs, they were running on empty. they need a game against a few walkovers late in the season to save their strength. that being said, nac has enough problems winning at the 4a level, and marshalls having too much fun to want to come back up.

I say bring back Nacogdoches, Texas High, and Pine Tree to 5A. Two Tyler schools, two Longview schools, and Lufkin would make a 8 team district again like in the Real Old School Days!!!

Nacogdoches, Texas High, Marshall, and Pine Tree will never be 5A again! The city schools have just gotten too large. The only hope of this happening is a class 6A with JT, Lee, and Lufkin staying in 5A and several of the 4A moving back up to 5A.

Texas High to Lufkin would be quite a long drive.

Some new UIL buzz!

If they adjust the enrollment stats again, it could possibly move Lufkin, JT into 4A. Lufkin would move into a district with JT, Nac, Marshall, Kilgore, Jacksonville, ect...

This was one scenario that was apparently kicked over by UIL. However, this scenario would also move some schools like SLC back into 4A as well.

Don't see it happening but it was discussed for quite some time during the enrollment workshop.

Whitey Pine Tree just doesn't have a chance.

Personally, I hope Lufkin stays in the same district. I like in Spring/Klein so I can make the "road" games really easily and I just drive in to see the parents for the home games.

It's the perfect situation for me. I could never make it to a Friday night game in Tyler.

I would hate to see Lufkin, the #2 ranked team in the state, go to 4A and so would all the 4A schools I'm sure...

I miss those old district days as well. Even though they were some long drives it just made more sense since those schools were all kind of "out there" by themselves. I just don't like seeing Lufkin in a technically Houston district. But being from East Texas I'm used to having to travel even for a district game. I played at Huntington and I can't remember anyone except for Diboll that we didn't have to drive at least an hour to play in district.

Pine Tree should honestly just give up its football program and focus on other sports. We haven't fielded a team since the late '80s and those teams weren't even that good.

My sophomore and junior years we were good.

And they made the playoffs in the Fall of 2000 I believe. Granted they did it by going 5-5 and got slaughtered in the 1st round.

My problem with that is that a .500 team doesn't deserve to make the playoffs. I don't know what the district is now but wasn't that the year we had 4 teams in district and 3 of them got to go to the playoffs?

That may have been the case in 2000...

In the 97 season, we were 6-4, made it to the playoffs and got beat by Texas High by 6.

In 98, we were 7-3 (4-3 in district) and missed the playoffs but at one point we were state ranked. We beat Carthage and Kilgore that year, both of whom went on to the playoffs.

In 99, we were 2-8, 0-5 in district

In 2000, they were 5-5, and 5-2 in district.

as my friend lee corso says, "NOT SO FAST!"

'99 we were 2-8 but we were 1-4 in district. We beat gilmer to start the year and then beat henderson on senior night if i remember correctly.

all i know is we should have known meeks was bad when he wanted me to play offensive line. oh well, i do remember almost getting in a fight on the opening kickoff in the playoff game against texas high. that was a crazy day: snowing and pine tree in the playoffs

Without looking it up, I feel safe to say that they lost, most likely big.
