2 Georges was a disappointment. RR Station in Odem is decent, but not a lot of variety.

It's been over 4 years since I lived in Corpus, but everyone always raved about Snoopy's or maybe it was Frenchy's (right off the JFK Causeway). I personally thought Water Street was the best (the seadfood company, not the oyster bar in front).

Doc's (the old Frenchys) is much much better than Water Street.

Aren't the two restaurants on the pier considered the best? I think Landry's is one of them. Water Street is good in my opinion, but I think the popular thought is that the two restaurants on the T-head pier are the best?

I guess the relevant question is considered by whom? And by what standard?

MOst of the old favorites around here fry a lot of their food, which is not terribly good for you or conducive to good eating either. There is a limit to what you can do with seafood by frying it.

My favorite for just seafood is the Yardarm, which is small and a little more pricey than most locals like. It is small enough and the owners particular enough that you are pretty much guaranteed a good meal. NO minimum wage cooks like in some other places.

Although they are not primarily seafood places, two others that do a great job with their seafood items and which always have some are the Dragonfly, which is just over the bridge in the little strip center on the island and Marco's on Staples at Park and which is Italian. The owner/cook is from Florence and knows how to cook and has a good staff. The Dragonfly's owner/cook is from rural France and is also very good.

I second the kings inn comment, but rr seafood station is a decent substitute.

Huisache brings up a goo dpoint. What is a "good" seafood place? I like a variety of entrees cooked a variety of ways. In other words, I want a choice of broiled, grilled, or fried fish. I want the same for shrimp, scallops, and oysters. Stuffed flounder? You bet. Lots of sides are a must ..... from fresh cut french fries, baked potatoes, fried okra, beans (pinto or green), rice pilaf, ...you get the idea. Fresh, cold salads area a must.

I'm thinking we'll try "Doc's" while the in-laws are here. they're taking us to The Republic of Texas Friday night, so anything after that is gravey.

What on earth? Landry's is pretty good, but Joe's Crab Shack? You are going to say that they are the best?

I knew the guy that started it on Kostoryz in the late '60's or early '70's.

I bet I ate there 500 times.

6 shirmp, fries and tarter sauce for like $1.19 back then...

Great memory

Is The Republic of Texas is good? Is that on top of the Omni?

I like snoopy's (cash only), water street, doc's, and catfish charlies. Kings Inn is the best if your up for the drive. The Republic is in the omni. Long John Silvers is terrible.

Yardarm....no contest.

Dragonfly on the Island always has good fish.

Docs/Frenchys has sucked big-time the last few times I was there.

Water Street is my favorite. The wallnut house dressing on the salads is off the hook.
