Galveston hotel help needed!

So the wife and I need a hotel for 1 night, on August 7th, but all the big hotels require a 2nt stay for some *&%## reason.

We have a 1month and 19month at home so 2nights isn't an option.

Anybody know of any nice hotels that might be able to accomodate this? Already tried the Galvez, San Luis, Tremont, Hilton, Holiday Inn..etc.

You are probably out of luck. They do that because they typically sell out every weekend. They don't want to lose a nights revenue cause they rented to someone for one night when they could rent to someone for both. They have plenty of people walk in on Friday afternoon without a reservation who are looking for a place to stay for the weekend.

You might have better luck if you look up the highway a bit. Good luck

If you don't need any ambience and simply want a room give Econolodge a call. They have decent rooms and are a half block from the seawall next to Gaidos.

Thanks guys but the Tremont helped me out. I called the manager and let him know what our situation was, with the kids and all, and he said, "No problem."

Got us a room in about 10minutes.

Now, what's a good restaurant (besides gaidos)to eat at that isn't too touristy?

if you're staying at the tremont and don't want to venture out too far, rudy and paco's is great for fine dining

Thanks a bunch guys!

We'll probably check out the strand and stay away from the seawall.

Had an offshore trip last weekend and the guys wanted gaido's afterwards. Have to agree with most, not what it once was. Kinda hard to F up the beer though so I didn't complain.
