going there this summer. what is the best place to stay? want to stay close to beach at a decent but cheap place.

Mayan Princess or Port Royal.

If you like golf you should check out Newport Dunes... it's an Arnold Palmer design on the island not too far from either of 2 two places.

Port Royal is pretty nice.

If you don't want to do the big condo thing, there are plenty of smaller individual condos around, both in Port A and further south on Mustang Island.

Check out Starkey Properties - they are a management company for people that rent out their condos. My parents list their second condo with them.

And yes, Newport Dunes is a nice golf course, links style and a good little challenge, especially with the wind coming off the Gulf.

The pool at Port Royal is pretty sweet.

Ought to be REALLY challenging if the wind is blowing then, like it is now.

The swim-up bar at Port Royal is a little slice of heaven. Kids going crazy in the pool and you can just sit there and chill and watch the chicks....I mean your kids.
