I will be traveling with my dad to Matagorda in a few weeks and staying along the colorado off of beach road. Any help on fishing ideas? We were going to try fishing from the pier there at the house as well as surf fishing on east bay. I have never fished there and would appreciate any tips/help with places to go, bait ie artificial or live, or anything else anyone can help out with. TIA

Might want to call and make sure the house is still there. The Colorado is flooding pretty bad right now.

Your best bet is fishing off the dock at night. The house should have lights in the river. Turn them on at sundown and wait a couple hours. You should hear the trout start popping when it is time to go fishing. You will have to try several different baits to find what they want. Try a spec rig or other tandem rigs, but don't be afraid to switch quickly and often until you find the right one.
