Since there is no traffic on this boarf I thought I would up it a notch.

I like Corpus...rough coastal town and lots of refineries, but has pretty much what you need. We go there quite often to shop . Traffic not bad compared to SA. And it is at the end of I - 37. Laredo is at the end of I - 35, AND it IS a Dump !

The Bayfront and Ocean Drive are pretty. Everything else is a dump.

There was a great thread on Corpus a few months ago. Its probably just not showing up on the mobile site.

There are very nice parts of Corpus. The closer you are to the water the nicer it is. Unfortunately for Corpus the very first thing a visitor sees are the refineries... whether it be driving in from I-37 or flying into the airport. Anyone traveling to Corpus on business will see this and think that is what Corpus is.

If you live there or are planning to move there you will notice that the locals in the main part of the city have very little self respect. It is socially acceptable to leave dirty diapers in parking lots.

I was fortunate enough to live on the island. Living on the island is like living in a completely different town. It was a nice escape from the main part of the city.

There are a lot of nice areas, they are just off the beaten path. I just moved down here a year ago to work at the NAS. My wife and I live on the South Side, but we are thinking of moving more Central. We love it here. Lots to do, lots of places to eat.

Corpus is a great place to be from, because that means I don't live there anymore.

Just a reminder: You can put your boat in the water at Corpus and go all the way to China, if you want to. Think about that for a minute. Of course you could put in at Port Mansfield and do the same thing but, still

I'll give you an answer mañana. Get it?

The old Coliseum, the old courthouse, the Columbus ships ......all have something in common. Something shiny came along, and there was no thought as to what to do with the old, or how to maintain the new toy. There is never any "thinking ahead".

I had a great experience growing up in Flour Bluff. The whole feel of Corpus is unique. Nothing is really nice, and there isn't a whole lot to do, but I certainly wouldn't call it a "dump".

But yes, Corpus is why we can't have nice things.

I ended up in Corpus a year and a half ago. It could be much worse, trust me. I like the sleepy coastal town feel of it. It's not a tourist nightmare like Galveston has become.

Why is Corpus a dump? No serious growth since the 70's... Brain drain due to lack of decent jobs... Also, its like "the people of Walmart" invaded and took over almost the entire city. To bad, because if it were a bit different it could be the capital of the Texas Rivera. As it stands, if Texas needed an enema, Corpus Christi is where you would stick it.

That's funny, I feel the same way about Houston.

Moving there for 9 months in two weeks. After spending the last 2 weeks down there setting everything up it seems like any other town. Good areas, bad areas, good food, bars, etc. Traffic doesn't seem too terrible as far as I've seen which is a plus.
