Why does Corpus not have a zoo? With a city population of 325,000 plus surrounding areas (kingsville, alice, rockport, etc) would certainly make it a worth while attraction. Not expecting a San Diego Zoo or anything, but would seem beneficial and an attraction to the area.

Corpus IS A ZOO, with all the stray animals walking the streets.

If they can't take care of the Columbus Ships, a Coliseum, their streets, etc .... why on Earth would you think they can take care of living animals?

Not sure you can correlate inanimate object care with animal care.

The aquarium seems like it does well, so I would imagine a zoo would too.

And I agree with all previous posts.

The aquarium does well because it is the Texas State Aquarium.

how does Victoria have a zoo but not corpus? Victoria can't have more than 75,000 people. Plus Victoria is close to both Houston and San Antonio

Victoria has the O'Connor family, which cares about and is proud of its city.

Corpus rich folk dream of living elsewhere and move to Austin or San Antonio or Dallas.

Plus, Corpus is a zoo. When they built the water feature in front of the convention center all the critters took their kids to wade in it and show off their tattoos. They have a sign there advising people not to change their diapers in the water. And in Corpus you need a sign like that.

If they let them, the locals would fish in the aquarium.

If we had a zoo, they would likely shoot the animals.


When I first moved here thirty years ago I used to go to Cole Park on Sunday afternoons to watch the drunks beat their wives.

The Flour Bluff HEB would be a good place to capture wild animals for the zoo if they had one.

Haha, here is/was you Corpus zoo. I remember it was a bunch of animals in chain link fences with pallets stacked up around :-). Over past the dump by Oso creek. Could hear the lion roar at my in-laws place for quite a while after they closed (it had a toothache if I remember correctly)

Took my daughter and nieces to the Victoria zoo today. It is small but they do a good job. Just right for younger children

Austin doesn't have a zoo, unless it's new.

I would think the streets of Austin as a zoo more so than corpus.

Lots of wild animals to see on the King Ranch...and it's pay-for-admission, too.

Does that count?
