According to Reyni Zhang, university distinguished professor in atmospheric sciences and holder of the Harold J. Haynes Chair in Geosciences at Texas A&M, aerosols in the atmosphere produced by human activities like power plants and car and plane emissions appear to weaken hurricanes.
