Are geese still plentiful near El Campo?

First goose hunt for me in 30 years this Monday (29th). Meeting a guide in Bay City that my nephew lined up and then headed to somewhere around El Campo. Geese used to be so thick (back in the early 80s) that you could swat them down with the gun barrel. I have heard they are not so plentiful anymore...nesting further north and all . Goose hunters...any input?
Also fishing for trout at the mouth of Tres Palacios Bay on Tuesday morning. Two days of pure heaven!

There were tons of them around el campo/Garwood in November. Old timers saying that they haven't seen them that thick in a while but I have nothing to judge that statement by. Best of luck

Lack of water in lakes N of Austin means no rice. No rice, no geese.
