I have always wondered why Corpus Christi doesn't divide itself into five cities. If I lived in Callen or NPI, I would definitely want my area to de-annex itself and become its own city. This would give you better say in what goes on in your area. There is no way that Calallen and NPI should be in the same city anyway, and CC is foolish to try and provide services for these two very different areas. The five subdivided cities (NPI, Flour Bluff, CC, Anaville, and Calallen) could then prioritize what is important to each of themselves.

The outling communities tried, but the time to annex is shorter than the time to charter a city.

Corpus would lose their tax gravy train if those outlying areas split.

I'm not suggesting it for Corpus Christi's benefit. I was suggesting it for the benefit of the outlying areas.
