So, the work has shifted down Bay Shore and is now near us. Currently, they are pulling mud/dirt out of the water. Are they making it deeper in order to then add rock like they did in earlier phases?

We did not have existing rock by us as the water is shallower and easier to access as opposed to the shoreline closer to KAYC and the bridge.

We've missed all the HOA meetings so I'm not completely up to speed.

I'm not sure exactly which area you are associated with, but the groins and revetment would have some excavation to bury the toes to protect from scour. There were some areas that needed random material to be pulled out of the way prior to installation. Some of that is existing rock that is going to be dug up, separated, and reused.

Pics of ongoing work from my walk this morning. Bonus sunset image from last night, it was spectacular as usual.

I take it the new rock berms are permanent. Not a big fan of that but whatevs.

Youbet - yes I think permanent. It's probably a better option than the ocean eating the island and the road. At least the rocks are not painted burnt orange.

I miss Key Allegro.
Thanks for posting the pictures.
That took me back down memory lane of early morning runs along that stretch as the sun was rising.

Assume this work is part of the additional funding approved by HOA? Not sure where we ended up on that decision.

Much drier behind the new, taller rock bulkhead with the storm coming in today. Still flooding in the usual places where the rock hasn't been placed yet. Will be nice when they get this project completed!

Bayshore drive is almost completely flooded now. Highest tide I've ever seen down here

Agreed. I've never seen water reach our dock and as of right now it is covered…crazy.

Water level is still rising. Probably 2" in the last hour. High tide is at 1 PM

Full moon is tomorrow…that will also keep water high.

We rebuilt our bulkhead 2 years ago to the new recommended KAHOA height (which towers over our neighbors) and it's about to go under water.

Fun pic of Bayshore from above during the height of this. I was actually out of town during this while my poor wife was stranded at home. Water in our canal was up 4-6 feet because it got to the very bottom of our boat which is fairly high up in its lift.

Our neighbors watched a boat float by two nights ago that got unmoored. Not sure where it ended up.
