King High graduate Mrs WolfCall and I went to Dillards in the new to us Mall on SPID between Staples and Everhart. We had a great time shopping there. So many selections....

Glad to see a lot of positive changes in Corpus. Looking forward to trip over Harbor Bridge tomorrow.

Do you mean La Palmera? It's been there since 1970 (previously known as Padre Staples Mall until 2008).

I met both Bob Lilly and Larry Brown at the Cowboys shop in that mall.

I'm assuming he meant it's been revitalized. I don't know. I've been to it once. I will say it was a pleasant experience vs alot of other malls I've been to. Not too large; felt safe. Actually, kind of reminded me of the golden age of malls from the 80s.

Yes. I didn't realize the La Palmera was revitalized Padre Staples mall. I saw all the demo of the Airline side of the mall and assumed the whole mall had been torn down.

That demolition WAS the Sunrise Mall.

I think the OP is confusing two different Corpus malls in general.

La Palmera/Padre Staples is still there and has been since '70.

Sunrise Mall opened in 1981, and was demolished (at least partially) in 2024. Some things connected to it are still standing.

I remember on the Airline Rd side of Sunrise Mall there used to be an HEB grocery store attached to the mall, where the church is now, just north of the old Sears.

Once Moore Plaza started getting built it siphoned businesses from Sunrise Mall and that mall eventually declined and lost foot traffic.

Corpus wasn't/isn't a large enough city to support two malls, particularly two that were so close to each other.
