i got accepted into the TAMU-kingsville pharmacy school program there, but i don't know much about the town at all. i drove down there for my interview back in april, and it looked like crappy town.

what are good places to live in town?
what is average rent?
what is there to do for fun?
how many bars are there?
will there be a good selection of chicks?
what the hell is a javelina?

chicks - none, (this is the biggest compaint by my friends that go there)

bars - the luau!

rent - cheap

part of town - i dont know

javelina - a small hog-like critter

for fun - i would love to live in - near, rather - Kingsville because of the coast. you're only a couple hours from SPI and mexico; 45 mins from corpus.

I would recommend you go to tamuk - but get a serious girlfriend first.

I went to A&M-K for a year...there is an apt. complex off 77 when you first come into town...other than that, not much else.
County Luau is the bar.
Not much to do, but being in Pharm school, thats probably good.
Kings Inn, not too far away, is good.
If you like to fish, Baffin Bay is very close.
Corpus is 45 minutes away and there is stuff to do there.

Kings Inn is on Baffin Bay. Just past Rivera. Excellent seafood. Its one of those places that is famous in Texas Monthly. Been there for years and years. They serve their food family style. You order by the platter. Try it, you will love it!!!

1. chicks - please its a small college town, yes, but a college town none the less.... always "chicks"

2. Lots of good places to eat - Kings Inn is awsome, gotta try: Young's (pizza, potatoes, sandwhiches), Big House Burger, Pizza parlor, and just about ANY of the Mexican places

3.Rent - South Texas is relatively inexpensive, just depends on what u are looking for - Do have newer apts, but gonna pay a pretty penny

4. BARS - Luau, Port - o - Call, RAX

5. FUN - fishing, golf, lots of different events on Campus, Javelina Football!!!
