Will be interesting to see what happens.....I think they will play havoc with 2A and 3A because of the whole going to two divisions in 2A. May be some long time 3A teams going down to 2A.

The 5A cutoff actually dropped from 2085 to 2065. When was the last time that happened?

I don't get it... District 12 2A has 14 teams? How can they all play each other? Or is it changed to where only Div 1 plays Div 1 and Div 2 only plays Div 2?

Why are there so few districts? Weird...

Ah, I see where there are 32 districts for basketball... and about 8 teams per district. So teh basketabll districts are more traditional... while they are trying to split up div 1 and div 2 in football.

What number did Temple turn in? I had heard that they were dropping to 4A. That's gotta suck being one of the smallest 5A's around.

Stephenville and Killeen aren't too bad from Waco.

I'm glad I won't have to ride a school bus from Midway to San Angelo. Trips like that are why so many towns in West Texas have nice touring buses for athletic road trips.

Wow, the Bees got an interesting football district. Bring on the Yoe and the ass-kickings.

Cameron
Florence
Hearne
Academy
Marlin
McGregor
Troy

Not as easy of a district as I think Cameron thought it would be in.

We (Cameron) used to play Marlin all the time. Hearne was a long-time rival, and on occasion, we would be in McGregor's district.

Troy has been off and on in 3A forever with us, and only Florence and Academy are schools that are suprisingly in this larger Division 1 group (although I'm not totally surprised at Academy being as how there is tremendous construction of EXPENSIVE homes being built in Taylors' Valley right now).

Interesting district.

Temple is almost 200 kids over the limit, so we weren't as close as I thought we'd be (or so I was told).

Salado, btw, is going to get DESTROYED in that district.

They also need to work on their football facilities.

Yikes.

Dave, one of our coaches (I teach at Temple High) said that this district with McGregor and Cameron was going to be one of the toughest in the state in 2A Division 1.

If nothing else, it won't be boring...

I remember all too well the 1st time we (Salado) were in the same district with Liberty Hill. It wasn't pretty. At all.

I foresee some TOUGH years ahead of the good ol Eagles.

And the Temple v Salado hate is funny. I guess Killeen is just too far out of Temple's league to hate on now days.

(Just kidding...kind of...3GA. Nothing but love)

I looked at the San Angelo paper's website this morning, and apparently there's not a 4A school within MILES of there...it was either put them in this district or put them in a district with some of the Fort Worth area schools apparently.

Jock, I just wanted them out of my UIL academic district. They just have so many advantages--size, money, opportunity, support materials, practice meets--that my kids struggle. And then their kids have the attitude that they are smarter. I will be so pleased to have a more level playing field for my writers and for my lit critters.

Ol Jock, my feelings about Salado have NOTHING to do with Temple. Heck, Temple people barely register Salado....it's a place they drive through when going to Austin.

My feelings come from when I was at Rogers. The Salado kids were incredibly elitist and arrogant. Maybe YOU weren't that way, but that's the impression that most of the rest of us in the district at the time got.

I might be wrong about the stadium, btw. I rarely go to Salado, but two years ago when I drove to a wedding and drove by it, it was pretty small. If they continue to grow, they're going to need to upgrade.

Well, I graduated in 95 and my little sis in 97, so I'm not exactly in touch with the school, but you can probably change it to "the _______ kids were incredibly elitist and arrogant" based on what I've seen of "kids these days".

And yeah, the football facilities are a bit out of date.

All of the Lubbock schools are in 5A I believe. Maybe you are talking about this district:

District 3
Amarillo Caprock
Amarillo Palo Duro
Canyon
Canyon Randall
Dumas
Hereford
Plainview
Wolfforth Frenship

That is the truth Bohunk. Tired of the fact Salado gives UIL so many advantages. No way, even my bright, bright kids can make up for their coaches getting paid to coach, their having every study guide known to modern man, going to practice meets, and most of all actually arranging a time during the day to work with coaches.

It would be equal to having to get ready to play basketball on ten minutes practice a week on an outside court, when the other team had five hours of practice a week in a real gym. Then having the other guy brag that his kids were better athletes.

And tired of not being able to get out of district with scores that would win district in over half the other 2A districts.

When one school is that dominant, it makes it hard to get kids to even want to make the sacrifices for UIL since that trip to regional is almost impossible to get.

And it was more that the Salado folks thought their S did not stink instead of understanding the many, many advantages they gave their kids--and that many other students in the district were bright also.

I went to Liberty Hill and think it's a good allignment. When I was there we were going out to Bandera (Suck). I didn't know Lampassas was 4a (I guess we just always scrimmaged them), Good luck tgo all!

Wolfforth Frenship is less than a quarter mile from the Lubbock city limits. That was the district that I was referring to. When I lived in that district, it was pretty certain that the only way a school would move from the district was if it changed classification. There are no other 4A schools in the panhandle/South Plains.

I didn't realize Lorena was 3A already.
I'm also surprised that Brownwood is 4A.

I still don't see how Midway isn't 5A. And Midway has got to be twice the size of University but they're in the same District.
