the family's out of town this weekend and i figured it would be a good chance to go out and waste some time throwing out a few lines.

i know nothing's really running right now, but was curious where are some good spots to fish from the shore are.... if any.

Flint was closed (far side of bridge from temple) and Leona bridge was slow.

i think with the high water things are going to run a bit late this year. which is fine. warmer is better

I think they just stocked Nolan Creek with rainbows if you like that sort of thing. Not sure where the release was.

For anyone that is interested, I am a member of the Central Texas Sportsman's Club and they have a dock on Lake Belton just east of Temple Lake Park. The club is on Cen-Tex Sportsman's Club Rd, which is the road on FM 2305 just before you get to Temple Lake Park. The club has board meetings on the first Tuesday of every month for anyone who wants to join. I believe there is a $25 fee for first time members plus a $20 fee for each year you are a member. The dock has a combination gate on it so it is a secured location. Great place to fish and take your kids. I have been fishing there my entire life and if you have any questions about the club, let me know.

Smirk, I will give that some serious thought.

Hi, Smirk Ag:

Can you point me to the right direction on how to become a member of Central Texas Sportsman Club? I was a member several years ago and lost contact with them.

Thanks
Haitao

Rogers Park is a good no fee access for fishing. Lots of white bass cruising through that area.

water level made it to 583 this morning

Still a long way to go, but every little bit helps, I guess

Anywhere to fish from the shore around Franks Marina? Could I Pay to fish from the marina there? Looking for a spot to fish with my 3yr old daughter.

There's not a whole lot of fishable area around Franks. I'd check out Arrowhead, though. It's close by and offers a lot a bank fishing along the old road.

haitao - The last Tuesday of every month is the Board Meeting where they allow new members to join the club. All you have to do is show up at the clubhouse for the meeting and it is usually at 6 or 7 p.m. I'm not sure what the fees are anymore, but there is a one time fee to join and also the $25 per year for membership. If I find the last newsletter, I'll update this post. The dock is in great shape now. They have made a lot of improvements in the last two years. A lot of crappie were caught during March. Hoping the whites are about to start running through there.

I don't see why the whites or crappie would just happen to decide that the Frank's cove is a great place to spawn. It's really not a great cove with regards to fishing, and I feel like any commentary is not that accurate. The majority of the spots are much farther down river/lake.

ETA: there are crappie all over the GD lake, and concentrations are much heavier in the creek inflows that you don't have to pay to launch a boat at.

I would never pay to launch a boat on Belton, there are too many ramps that are within VERY close proximity to the spots people want to pay for.

We always launched at arrowhead. Light traffic. Easy in easy out. And with the lake full all of the smaller ramps should be prime

Me and the boys should be doing a little jiggin' soon at the Centex Sportsmen's dock. I will report back with a hopeful "good news" report.

You'll have to park up top most likely. And I don't think you can get on the dock without wading.
