Now he's trying to suck up to all the lefties he pissed off by not voting for it....even though I think he was "allowed" to not vote for it.

Now he'll go run and tell his handlers (the Waco Elite) that own him that he's going to be a Conservative good ol boy and that he's gonna do what's right for the local business and not screw them over next time a big tax increase is proposed. Next, he'll put on his Aggie Ring and run down to College Station, tell everyone how red-ass he was back in the day, when in truth, he was a long-haired, maggot infested hippie, who sought to take power away from the Corps. According to some measures, he is in the most Republican district of any Democratic congressman in the U.S. I just don't understand how the guy keeps winning....other than the fact that the Republican candidates they have put up against him have been total stiffs until this year. I like Flores.

I read a deal awhile back that said he is actually in the second most republican district held by a dem congressman. Chet keeps getting reelected because for years he could rely on old people and veterans who just wanted fort hood and and the va taken care of. The constituents didn't mind that he was liberal as long as the pork kept coming. There simply wasn't anything that important that required leadership and fight. Fast forward to 2010 and the radicals/socialists/communists are no longer an amusing sideshow, but are now running the country. This is not what central Texans bargain for when they think democrat. They don't like it, thy don't want it, and they want somebody who will fight the bolshevik takeover. Chet provided no fight, and that's why central Texas will find somebody who will.

This hits the nail on the head. I think that's exactly right, which is sort of sad.

And c-jags, I don't think it's so much the current military behind him, it's the old veterans and VA patients, etc.

I'm so hoping Flores gets elected, to the point that we have actually given some money to him....something we rarely (if ever) do to political candidates.

Chet has kept the Waco VA open for the local boys and that is the ONLY reason he gets re-elected time and again.

Early polls show him trailing Flores by 12 points.

Also, Ft. Hood is no longer in CD-17.

Chet will soon start to run his campaign ads. If you watch the ads, you'd think he is to the right of Reagan.

Those of us in CD-17 need to make sure that we educate those who may be inclined to vote for the incumbent slimebag.

I introduced myself to him as "Class of '02" one time...in College Station.

He looked at me like I had a greasy booger hanging out of my nose and he didn't want to embarrass me by pointing it out.

He's a tremendous politician and he figured out early on that he could be almost unbeatable if he was the champion of the military and VA in this area and he's made a career out of it.

Just remember guys, not all veterans support him. I'm a 20 year veteran, saw through his BS very quickly and have been voting against him ever since we moved into this district. He gets alot of support from the entrenched university workers. Even though a lot of those workers are conservative, they vote a split ticket because they say he is "good" for A&M. What a croc...He has been nothing but a professional politician since the day he left A&M. His use of the good character of Veterans in his commercials is disgusting and pathetic. He is a left winger, parlaying his votes to disguise his true liberal philosophy. If he were a true conservative, he would not be in the Democrat party.
Bill Flores needs to be elected. He will go to Washington, D.C. and vote to stop the Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda that is destroying this country as we know it. Remember, if you vote for someone who will allow a President, a Speaker or Majority Leader to fundamentally change this country......then they truly have not done their sworn duty to defend and protect this country and our constitution.

Please vote for Bill Flores.......encourage everyone to do the same.

I think Chet knows he is on the way out and this is, my family said, a weird way to gauge the situation. In the past when Chet would campaign with his two sons around they were short haired, combed and parted, dressed in classic but plain pants/jeans and shirts.

He had them recently, shaking people's hands at WalMart and one of the two had hair long enough to touch his shoulders. Someone who wants the Vets vote doesn't want their son looking like a hippie...he knows he is done for and isn't really campaigning this time around so he isn't worried about projecting a certain image.

Let's hope so. We just have to get out and vote to make sure it happens.

When I got home from work this evening, there is a message on my answering machine from Chet's campaign.

I'll paraphrase what the lady said, "Chet knows jobs, he is responsible for x jobs at L-3, something that Bill Flores wouldn't have fought for because he said government should pick winners and losers in business. Chet also saved 400 jobs at the Waco VA. In addition, Chet's behind the scenes work helped save the Big 12 and 1400 jobs.

Chet better learn not to call Aggies in the Waco area. The Big 12 bit may work with Bears, but I think most of us wanted the Big 12 to die.
