I just got hired on in BISD as a special ed teacher! My room is completely empty, and though the school will give me money for some things, if anyone has old books, toys, games, etc. that they where looking to get rid of I'm your girl!!! That goes for bean bag chairs or posters as well. Think of me as the Aggie Goodwill. TIA!

Congrats. What age range and at what campus?

I have been in workshops the last two weeks and many of the young teachers there were still looking for jobs.

Thanks for the congrats. I will be at Pirtle Elem in Belton. I know that there are still a lot of people still looking for jobs right now. I spent last year as a teachers aide in a SPED classroom, so I was lucky enough to make some really great contacts. I will be working with 8-11 year olds with varying disabilities. Their grade levels are 3-5 but that doesn't mean they are at or near actual grade level. I will be reading many books to them, but some will be reading close to or at grade level. At this point I will take whatever is available. I am going into this year with NOTHING! The sped department is letting me have a shopping spree of sorts, but only for the necessities (furniture, manipulatives, sensory toys).

Will it be a self contained class, or a mixture of inclusion time and self contained? Right now my things are all boxed, but I might have some things for you when the school clears us to start unpacking.

It will be a mix of the 2. I know music and pe will be in regular ed. I will know more hopefully this week.

you might check w/ the surplus store. I don't remember the dates it's open (something like once a month) but they have a bunch of classroom stuff. and it's free if you provide your BISD credentials.

linwvr: My wife is starting nursing school in the fall and I work for the Flippen Group. We do leadership training. Other than that we just hang out and work on our house. Nothing too exciting.

Thanks Brad. I have heard about the concerts. My husband was at Corey Morrow last week, but I was out of town. His said it was a Belton HS reunion up there! We may be up there this week, Ill let you know. Congrats of the job Lin.

BTW.. If anyone has a small old microwave for sale I could use one of those as well. Had an extra, but gave it to my parents when theirs went out.

Thats funny. How do you know A&C? I just met the new sped boss at the new behavior management training Tuesday. I recognized her, from the admin building I guess. I know she was in charge of Federal programs before.

I'd like to go ahead and apologize for SpEd Manager. Seems like i got the kinks worked out this summer, but we'll see what happens when y'all start using it again. Better than the last one though i promise.

About to "shop around" for a new church. Havent been to any here in town, but grew up southern baptist. Hoping to get away from all of the fire and brimstone.

We really enjoy the church a lot. I come from a Southern Baptist background as well and it is nice to get away from that (nothing wrong with it, just stopped being our style after our last church in San Angelo.)

It is really big though and that was hard to get past at first. And the drivers suck on sunday morning.
