are the worst...in ANY place, any time.

Either it's the old lady who literally exits off the loop and STOPS on the exit ramp. Stops.

Or, it's the man who is MUCH too busy to turn his blinker on (thankfully I wasn't tailgating).

Or, it's incredibly overly-cautious soccer-mom types who almost hit me because they are so nervous.

And no, I wasn't speeding, or anything.

They are slow, easily freaked-out, and not aware of their surroundings.

My sons come home to visit and swear that there are no worse drivers, anywhere. I totally agree with them.

If you've never driven anywhere besides Temple, then I guess you are right. I drive I-35 to just north of Austin for work and Temple driving is nothing compared to that. We also go to Houston often to visit my wife's aunt and that is chaos. Again, Temple is kid's play compared to that.

Try driving in Boston. My wife actually literally cried after driving in the city one night.

I've lived in Temple pretty much my entire life. Your post may be a tad bit of hyperbole.

I've lived in various locales in Texas (including Dallas), I've lived in Portland, Oregon, and have done extensive travel.

I'm not a rube.

I'm also not referring to traffic in big cities; there is a difference.

There are horrible drivers here.

Hyperbole, yes. But, try to lower your condescension.

90% of them are at TBC on sunday mornings. I have never hated fellow christians more than when being in that parking lot. cut-offs, driving through parking spots, camping for spots, random drop offs w/ no warning, and people that i have seen plenty parking in the newcomer spot. love that church but i see the personality of a lot of the congregation in the parking lot. and i'll take this over Austin, DFW traffic any day.

People in San Antonio aren't bad though.

There is big city driving and then there are the people here. Small town drivers, perhaps, who haven't yet adjusted to the burden of traffic placed on our roads by the growth in the western sections of our area.

I'm not sure about the man who didn't signal; laziness or arrogance. I blew my horn at him. (that'll show him)

The woman who stopped on the exit (I'm not sure I'm making the picture clear on what she did) probably shouldn't have been driving. She was scared out of her mind, had no idea what she was doing, and was a danger.

Yes, I realize she is older, and that we will ALL be older some day, but man, she was DANGEROUS.

100% agree. Drivers around here simply do not pay attention. They seem aloof or very distracted.

What gets under my skin the most is drivers that use their blinker as a signal for what they are doing instead of using it as a signal for what they WANT to do. The blinker comes on at the same time the begin to change lanes. If someone is there, they swerve back and turn their blinker off. Then they slow down to try to change lanes, but no one knows if they simply changed their mind or if they still want over.

jan, you need a drink!

My mil is the one who stops at the entrance ramp...I have been in this family for 34 years and have tried to get her to see SHE is the hazard, not the people already in the flow of traffic! There is no way on an average entrance you can look, see it clear, then accel and enter before cars appear.

And the comment about San Antonio....think again there are foreigners(Mexican and American) on roadways that change daily due to construction....no one knows where it turns or stops so they drive really slow or really fast and slam on the brakes.

I will say wilth great reluctance that College Station is far worse than Temple. 18-22 year old coeds constantly texting or updating their facebook status while operating a moving vehicle. I had many near missed last time I was in town.

You guys need to get out more if you think Temple is bad. It is not even in my top 20.

The more I drive here, the more I'm convinced I'm correct.

The slow drivers are dangerous and unaware. I swear, they're going to kill someone.

I will completely agree with the speed factor.

My Dad used to swear the slow poke older drivers caused more wrecks. Then as he aged he became an horrendously slow driver who wasn't afraid to drive 40 on an interstate...and ignore people flipping him off! The drive from his home to Hewitt took us 5 pleasant, rest break hours....it took him 10 hours. He piddled along at an average of 30mph and stops for gas took 30 minutes because he was so slow to move.

FWIW, his license was renewed shortly before he turned 91...because he could pass the vision test!!!! Didn't matter that his neck was stiff and he couldn't turn his head or that he never drove close enough to the flow of traffic to be safe. He was a menace on the roadway and I tried to get his license revoked or to at least make them test him yearly...NOPE they cannot single out a citizen who really isn't breaking the law. So, we sold off all the extra cars he messed with and took the keys away and wouldn't allow him to drive our cars. It meant hiding keys and being sneaky because "the person with authority" renewed his license.

Not trying to be rude, but everybody claims that the drivers in their city are the worst. What does it mean? That bad drivers are everywhere. Which makes sense, because idiots comprise about 98% of society, and most of them drive.

Not trying to be condescending, just tired of the constantly hyperbole. Most of us have driven in 100 different cities and Temple would definitely not rate anywhere near the worst. There is nothing wrong with Temple driving that you wouldn't find a million other places. To say otherwise is really grasping for straws.

I have driven over most of the good ole USA, and I say SoCal (mainly El A & south to San Diego), Houston & Awstin were the werst I drove in.

granted, in NYC, San Fran & Chicago, was usually cabbing or mass transit.

however, since Jana out the bug out there, I have really noticed around here how many people don't have a clue "where they are",...as in "watch out for the other guy"

just yesterday, sitting at a red light on the access I35 & 363 intersection, I was 7 vehicles back in the center lane. Light turned green, no movement...so when it was clear to go around, the 3rd car had run into the 2nd car, the 2nd was pushed into the 1st car.

I could give more examples, since I got the bug, but I won't waste yall's time. But, it is pretty much wait till the last moment to change lanes, turn right or left,....or stop on an entrance ramp

oh yes, and pull out in front of you, when you have the right of way

janag - You should make it over to Killeen between the hours of 5:30am-9:00am, 11:30am-1:30pm, and 4:30pm-6:30pm. It's not the traffic volume, it's the people in the traffic.
