Anyone had any horror stories regarding the wait? So far we have waited 5 hours to get my sons license.

I've waited at times and other times I've walked right in and up to the counter. The thing I didn't like is they don't accept debit/credit cards or checks if my memory serves me correct.

i drive from temple to belton for work on 35 and have seen as many as 30 people sitting outside before the doors open.

maybe they know something.

glad i ordered my renewal online though. even if that was 30 pounds heavier

There are certain days and times in which you go.

I used to have a friend who worked there (I assume you mean the DPS on the interstate). 9:00 am or so would seem to be a good time.

We went at 1:15 on Tuesday and waited until 4:15 and had to leave because the computer system went down. Today we got there at 9:00 and our number was called at 12:25. Took 5 minutes to complete the picture, fingerprints etc.
