Can anyone recommend a lawyer that works Riesel speeding tickets please?

I would suggest paying it. you'll never get out of speed trap tickets

Thanks boss but that's wrong. It is being appealed to the county court now instead of being taken to Riesel. I was just looking for a recommendation on a lawyer not for erroneous information about how I should pay a speeding ticket.

I vote for paying it as well...that judge in Riesel is an old goat!

You can appeal but Waco attorneys that have to deal with him will charge you triple!

I got charged the exact amount for the ticket as it would be in Riesel and it will no longer be in Riesel since it is being appealed to the county.

You've yet to deny you were speeding, so safe to assume you're guilty. That said, I'm sure you can find an attorney who will gladly take your money and perhaps get you a deferred, but you'll still pay the admin. fee and court costs, plus your atty fees. So you might be better off just paying it.

Best advice: Don't speed through small towns.

Hwy 6 is a death trap in certain areas and all Aggies who have driven it know that. They also know Riesel, Calvert, Hearne(Plantersville, Navasota, between Huntburg and CS etc,etc,etc) have extra on duty cops every Aggie HOME GAME WEEKEND!!! They do this because it is a sure thing for the city coffers that Aggies are soo excited about a losing football season that they can't wait to reach the Heaven of Aggieland.

Don't lie, if you were speading which is almost a given certainty then pay the costs, take DD if you are able and admit you screwed up. It is going to cost you a bundle anyway you work it. Hopefully you haven't made a habit of this and are on the brink of losing your license!

Been in Waco 32 years and these little hick wet spots in the road make their payrolls from speeding Aggies...football, graduation, basketball, baseball, graduation....see it's a year-round income and believe me, they know the Aggie calendar!!!

Coming back on Saturday night, I had a guest with me for his first Kyle Field experience. I told him where each Cop would be sitting and sure enough I hit it 100%. Last year I got one outside of Marlin for 75 in a 70. Couldn't believe it because I have done Hwy 6 at least 300 times. He asked me if I knew how fast I was going and I said "75" and he said "I'll be right back". Took the DD course to get it off my record.

So much for ever using the central texas texags board again. I was not speeding as he "clocked" me. LocalAg... when you meet a dishonest cop without any valid proof that lies to charge you money I'd like to see what righteous know it all attitude you might have. Also, you pay a lawyer to plead not guilty on your ticket and have it dismissed, not to hope for a deferral. Not much experience with law huh?

Though it's obvious you're smarter than everyone else who's chimed in and beyond constructive help, let me offer you one bit of advice...

If you're going to spend the money to fight this in county court, you might want to check the tude at the door.

In July, I drove through Riesel on a Saturday night. It was pretty dark and I was surprised I didn't see the cop where he normally parks on the Northbound side of Hwy 6. Then I saw him. He was parked a little closer to the intersection than usual.

To the OP, personally, I think the Central Texas Board worked perfectly. You asked a question of the Board and they gave you the correct answer based on local, first-hand, expert knowledge. Unfortunately for you, it just wasn't the answer you wanted to hear.

I've never gotten a ticket in Riesel, Calvert or Marlin but I have picked up quite a few in places like Thrall, Kingsland, College Station and Lorena. It's amazing how many of those don't show up on your driving record after you pay the fines. Of course things are probably all hooked up on Computer these days so you might not be so lucky.

FWIW, if you sidestep the local yokel judges I would suggest you never drive through their burgs again. Aggie stickers on your vehicle?

Oldest daughter got stopped back when they were making the extra lanes just south of Riesel. Ticket was going to be huge because she was 10 over(didn't realize they had moved the signs but still she was speeding) and it was a work zone...then when she went in to ask for leniency or anything they would offer the judge ask her one question...were you driving faster than the posted limit? Yes, sir...then the court cannot help you. The fine will be XXX and it will be doubled because of workers present...but judge no one was working...Do you have photos to prove that? Well, no I didn't think............well, see there if you took the time to think you would have slowed down....NEXT CASE.

Son got a ticket last year at the edge of Marlin by the Chevy dealership...there is a partial driveway from an abandoned lot...there is always a cop there.

Other daughter got a ticket in Riesel the very first time she drove to College Station as a student! Her Ranger 4banger couldn't make it up a hill but it could go 6 over the limit because she was excited and not paying attention.

Husband got a ticket in Calvert for going 42 in a 35 and he hadn't even crossed the 35 sign!!! He got a ticket in Marlin back before the loop for an expired car tag.

All these cars are emblazoned with Aggie stickers!

I am the only one who has never gotten a ticket in any of these burgs...wanna know why?

It is better to fight it than to "just pay it" as some of you told him to do. To me some of the responses are more smarmy than the OP. I don't know any good lawyers in Waco for this but I am sure there are some. Fought one of mine in Johnson County and my wife's in Henderson County and both were cheaper than doing defensive driving.

Thanks for the help when the entire thread is for a lawyer recommendation. FYI thats not a recommendation to not get a lawyer or to just pay the fine. However, I do appreciate those who actually chimed in with good information about how ridiculous Riesel is.

didnt the fat riesel cop shoot someone several years ago, and was in some trouble over that, but in the end nothing happened.

Yes, the police chief in Riesel shot someone several years ago and yes nothing came of it. Keep that in mind everyone. OP, good luck. I don't know if it is worth the fight, but get an attorney in Waco. You could try Vic Feazell.

Yes! I remember this! The suspect was running away from his car in a field and the cop shot him in the back. The whole thing was on video from the cruiser... well, not the shooting part anyway (off camera), but the audio was there.

Riesel has been on decline due to pot heads and meth people that have moved out there. It used to be a nice little German town with good hard working people. There still are a lot of good people there though. Officer K beat the wrap on the shooting deal. Good for him. Just slow it down in Riesel next time. If you really want to fight, go get some bloodsucker like Jim or Vance Dunham or Vic Fezell to handle it. It will cost you, but you'll win.

Riesel actually has improved alot in the last several years. There are several new large houses there and a large bond issue was passed for a new school. I went to the first home football game there this year and it was a very pleasant atmosphere. That being said, don't speed through there.

I am from Riesel also originally. The only thing people in College Station knew of Riesel was because of the speed trap. Everyone knows where the cop sits so just slow down. Also Riesel is still a good little German town. Not quite the same as it used to be, but not many places are.

...you don't have to necessarily sit through the Riesel court before filing an appeal...technically you can just file with the court a plea of no contest and in the same filing submit your notice of appeal to the county court at law....I'd look up Denny Lessman in Waco...

He's definitely been on the wrong side of professional judgement in the past.

My mom taught in Riesel for almost 15 years and she got pulled over for going 1 mph over the posted speed limit on 6. Officer Krumnow (sp?) was the one who wrote her the ticket.

It was dismissed.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried...I'm from Mart and have been around Riesel all my life. Not to mention the countless times driving through to A&M. I've gotten 2 tickets from Danny Krumnow. One for 4mph over and the other for 5pmh over. Plenty of friends (from Mart & Riesel) have gotten pulled over for less than 11+.

Get your facts straight.

Maybe if you were in town. But not on highway 6. And he might have ticketed you because you were from mart.. I have my facts because I've had to sit on a jury and saw the statistics btw..

Gotta do better than that. Both were on hwy 6. One heading to Mart, the other heading to A&M.

Let me know the next time you go through Riesel. Since you say it's 11+, do 55 going through town. (10 < 11) See if he gives you a ticket.
