Looking for an estimate as to what a one bedroom apartment would run for a year lease in Temple. Might be taking a temporary assignment there and am wanting to just get some approximate info. Thanks!

I had a decent, but older apartment and I paid $515 for a one bedroom. However, there are some in Belton that will run you $700 for a one bedroom. It all depends on where and how nice you want.

I moved about 3 years ago, and right when I moved, they had some brand new, 3 bedroom duplexes for $750/month. In Temple. I'm not sure where you're coming from, but Temple is very inexpensive compared to places like Austin.

What would the electric bill run per month on a one bedroom apartment in the Temple, Belton or Killeen area. Also, how about basic cable?

my daughters have a brand new apartment 2/2 in Hewitt and their electric bill hasn't been over $75 since they moved in, in April. All electric.

Their rent runs $700 and their cable which includes internet is about $100 and is with Time Warner.

FWIW, we had Time Warner/RR for 12 years and my husband decided to save a few bucks he would drop it and get Grande..........mistake and he is ready to go back to TW/RR!

Depends how cool you keep your apt. I kept mine on 74 in a 15 year old apartment and it was around $70-$80 at the highest.

Coming from Houston. As far as how nice, safety is the biggest concern over amenities of a complex, but something that is maintained well is always nice. Would prefer something relatively close to the VA and Scott and White area. If you can think of any complexes in that area, pass them on and I will look into them.

This is great information though, I appreciate it folks. I was hoping that a one bedroom with bills would be under ~$900 and it sounds like that is feasible. Once a decision is made, around February, I will come back and get more info!

Well, I did a little cost-of-living research for you and can confirm that a 9 pack of miller lite in 16oz aluminum bottles is $9.99 in Bell County.

Hoyt...if possible, I would really recommend you making the drive to Temple and seeing what's around there. The town isn't that big, so it won't take that long.

Reason I say that, is I found what I thought were some "nice" places online, but when I spent a day in Temple looking at them, I found they were right across the street from low-income housing.

I lived on the west side of temple, which I can vouch for being a good side of town. I don't know the good apartments near S&W. I do know that the area just south of there, just a little further down from the mall, are not that great. But I couldn't tell you how they are right in the vicinity of the hospital.

Either way, if you're used to Houston traffic, it's not like anywhere in Temple will take that long to drive to.

Jen is right. Now that they have the flyover for 35, you can live in one of the three nice complex's on 2305 past the loop, hit the loop and be at S and W in ten minutes. Actually with the 31st street traffic the one nice complex on past the low income area might take just as long even though it is closer.

I plan on making a trip or two before I sign anything and get info from you guys, I just have not made it up there yet as me going are still up in the air. Thanks again.

There is nothing really near scott and white that I can think of that is nice. That area all down 31st street is kind of a dump. There are places in Belton that are nice and then places off of 2305 are probably your best bet. Its all very close. Even if you live in Belton, it will only take you 15 minutes to get to Scott and White.
