He has made some stupid decisions and more than likely some shady deals but heck, he is a politician.....who of them hasn't done just that or worse. Murder didn't get Ted Kennedy booted did it?

FTR, someone higher up in Waco's pyramid wants Buddy kept in office, find that person and the real investigation begins. Look at someone who was supposed to beat him and didn't and that person's backers who are nitpicking. It is true that the Rangers being involved makes this a bigger deal but lots of times the Rangers don't find a bullet proof case.

Buddy Skeen is a piece of human ***** This comes from personal experience that has nothing to do with what he did in office. It comes from a story I've heard MANY times in my life from my dad.

About 25 years ago, when I was about 5-6 years old, Buddy was our neighbor in Woodway. Buddy talked to my father about building a new house and led my dad believe he pretty much had the contract when Buddy decided to build. He wanted my dad to draw up some plans based on what Mr. Skeen wanted, so my dad did that for him. After delivering the house plans ($1000s of dollars worth of work in itself--this was in the 1980s before we had computers that did everything for you), Buddy went behind my dad's back and got another builder to build his house with the design my dad did. If that wasn't bad enough, Buddy stiffed my dad on the bill for the plans and never paid him after repeated requests.

That's typical Buddy. I'm not a bit surprised of these allegations.

What does "politician" have to do with it? I can't tell if you're saying his being a politician is evidence of guilt, or that his alleged behavior is excusable because, well, he's a politician and it's just expected.

I know many, MANY elected officials who are fine people and serve their office well. I certainly wouldn't describe them as ones who "abuse privileges" or are into "shady deals", and they certainly are not of the mindset that such activities are excusable for public servants.

Maybe I'm just not understanding. The allegations are disturbing, to say the VERY least.

I just love the fact that on a Friday night when I'm bored, I can login to the CenTex board and read about squabbles in Woodway.

Almost makes me feel like I'm 17 again and working back at Eckerd Drugs Store #2516 in Hewitt.

BQ, did you work with Roy? He was a sweetheart and so kind to his customers!

Mom, Roy was genuinely one of the most caring human beings I've ever met.

One of the biggest things I learned from Roy was - "To be in this business, you've got to be a people person". At that time, I was your average introverted type of geeky High School kid. I learned to both like people and to hate some of their habits.

A real funny one is that I had a particular customer who was a very difficult customer to deal with. About three years later, her daughter started dating my best friend and I wound up being the Best Man at the wedding. I always thought it was funny when I met the girls mother outside of the Pharmacy. Because she was so much nicer in person than she was as a customer. Funny about people like that.

BQ, I had to know you back then as we lived at that pharmacy...sick infant, another child with severe asthma and yet another with seizures.

Husband was out of town on business, baby had surgery in Temple...to be safe, we had our favorite sitter plan ahead on getting the daughters and spending the night here, with them. At 8 she was giving the oldest the seizure med and knocked the bottle over, losing probably two doses, the last two. The girl freaked out because she knew missing a dose could trigger a break-through seizure. She called the pharmacy to order a refill, then planned on her Mom going to pick it up.......apparently explained the entire drama. Roy Patrick brought the med to our house, called before he came out, told them he would honk the horn, then go to the door. He gave her his home number and said he and his wife would be on the alert overnight for a call if she and our daughters had any need at all!

Another time the second daughter was released from ICU and we drove home leaving all the single patient meds and inhalers in Temple. It was going to cost $138 and we needed the stuff right then. Roy called S&W hospital pharmacy and scolded them that no one told us to take the meds and all that stuff had likely been tossed. Before we left with the meds S&W called Roy and said a courier was picking up daughters meds in pedi and would bring them to the pharmacy, if we could get them!

He was definitely a nice, nice man. He cried when he told me his wife's cancer had returned and no options were left. We stood there and hugged like we were family because that is exactly how Roy felt about his "friends from work".

You were blessed indeed to work with him.

I've known Buddy for most of my life. I'm 41 and have known him since I was 7 or 8. He is a very nice man, but he is so tight he squeeks. He brings new meaning to "Cheap".

Nice guy, but with what has come out, I wouldn't vote for him again.

EMY92 and I are classmates so I figured he'd have a story or two

Mom, after I posted this, this morning, I remembered that when I first started working at Eckerds, both Pharmacists were named Roy. It was funny, the older fellow who retired while I was there was preferred by the older (age 75+ crowd). Roy Tate was either a WWII or Korea vet (I can't recall which, maybe both, it's been a long time).

But it was Roy Patrick who was 4F in the draft so became a Pharmacist. Again, genuinely one of the nicest/most caring people I've ever met - anywhere. When I started working with him in 1987, he was already a single father. I guess his wife must have passed not too long before that. I never knew and never asked.

The night you're talking about with the sitter, I'm not positive but, I think I almost remember that. I remember more than one occasion where Roy Patrick made house calls like that. Again, going way above and beyond the call of duty. And definitely not something that would show up on a corporate profitability report.

You're right, I am privileged to have worked with him. And I bet during 1987-1988, our paths most likely did cross. Since your oldest daughter is classmates with my sister, I know we were at the same HS Graduation at the minimum. Remarkable that that was only a few months before Aggie History changed forever in November 1999.

Another one from those HS days. Working with Billy Arndt was very educational. When it came to being a Pharmacist, he was a machine. He would run circles around anybody else and never make a mistake. But, he lacked the people skills of Roy Patrick. Billy also managed to steer me in the right direction with respect to attending A&M. I had my heart set on going to Rice or the US Air Force Academy. Billy encouraged me to go to A&M (ironically where he had been kicked out of school for among other things, urinating on the Lawrence Sullivan Ross statue - which of course meant nothing to me as a High Schooler who was not a dyed in the wool Aggie). As it turns out, Billy's advice was some of the best advice I'd gotten.

As a Texas grad, Billy talked about "School Support" which I now know to be "The Aggie Network". And he was right.

I also learned a lot about the Cattle business as Billy was filling 150 prescriptions/day and running cattle out of the pharmacy. Good Times.

Mom, just for kicks, I Googled Billy Arndt and found this page from an interview he did in 2010.

Funny that his occupation is described as "Pharmacist/Rancher". I could have told you that

BQ, our son was born in Oct 1986 and from then until 1990 someone was sick, most all of the time!

I made some remark about owing S&W $40,000 above the excellent coverage we had and Roy blanched, he looked like he was going to faint!

Around that time is when Lynn Everett opened his pharmacy in Hewitt and David was a HS kid working there, afternoons and evenings. It was crazy to talk with him when he was our son's jr hi coach. I said, I remember you being so sweet and helping your little sister do her homework. Then he said, you know my birthday is coming up and I should reminder her how sweet her big brother was!!! Then watching him bring his wife and children to church makes community life so special.

Winn ??? was one of our early paper boys and David Everett said they were buddies and he hoped they had throw the paper close to our door. I said the driveway was 100 ft long and no, it was never "close" to the door.

When I was a nurse at Providence I had Roy's mom and Lynn's dad as patients. Roy asked if it was possible to visit late when he left the pharmacy. His mom said he had always been a sweetheart, that at some point a boy said Your kid is mean to me....she called that child a liar and walked off!!!

Yes, our family's lives were changed Nov 1999. Jamie lived next door to the oldest daughter in FHK. Still, after 12 years daughter can start talking about the collapse and you can physically see her reliving those days.

Are you active in the W-MC A&M club?

Mom - I'm not active in the local A&M Club because I haven't lived in Waco since 1989.
