Never been but have driven near it on the Rio Grande highway. The drive between Terlingua and Presidio is breathtakingly beautiful. The mountains on the Mexican side rise straight up from the Rio Grande '4000 feet above your car window. You have to see it to appreciate it. The Texas side is rugged to, but not like the Mexican side. But heck yeah it's worth the drive because, well, why not? If it sucks, which I doubt it will, it doesn't matter. You saw a part of Texas you hadnt seen before.

You did mean Big Bend Ranch State Park, right? Or did you mean Colorado Bend State Park? Or Brazos Bend State Park? There is no "Bend State Park" in Texas

If you're talking about Colorado Bend State park it's awesome. Just got home from there yesterday. Been fishing the white bass run every spring since I was a kid. Great place for fishing, camping and hiking and never overcrowded because not a lot of people know about it.

Just went to Colorado Bend State Park for first time over spring break. It was awesome! We did the hike to Gorman Falls, which is supposed to be the prettiest waterfall in Texas. It did not disappoint. Has some gorgeous little camping areas too!

Yeah, Colorado Bend is cool. If you get a chance, take the wild cave tour. Pretty sure you have to make reservations.

Willis,
How's the water level at Colorado Bend? Are the white bass running now. Was wondering how that was gonna be this year.

I was there the first week of November and I was surprised that the water level was decent. Beautiful park especially on the river. We stayed two nights and saw plenty of Deer, Racoons, Armadillos, and a lifetime supply of Cacti.

A couple of weeks before you got there, it was pretty much dry.

Its raining like crazy there as I type this. The river will be muddy for awhile which will make fishing tough.

There's a pretty neat little winery in Bend, Texas.

Captain Pablo:

River is definitely low. The water was very muddy. The boat ramp was out of the water and the river was never deeper than six feet at any point. The white bass are runnig and they are pretty fair right now. I caught ten in about an hour this past Sunday. Most people were averaging around a dozen or so. Not the best season I've seen, but definitely not the worst.

Well, if the water was muddy last weekend, it's probably clear as chocolate milk right now. Oh well.
