Angela Ross, a highschool teacher at Groesbeck was killed Saturday in a Motorcycle accident. She left behind five kids as well as hundreds of students who loved her. She was one of those amazing teachers that knew the line between teacher and friend. I don't think I ever met a student that didn't like her after meeting her.

Anyway, just asking for thoughts and prayers for her children, her husband (who was driving, and in the hospital with a broken leg and ribs last I heard), and her many students.

MADISON COUNTY (March 25, 2012)--Groesbeck High School English teacher, Angela Faye Ross, 43, died Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle accident in Madison County.

Ross was riding a motorcycle with her husband, Robert Lee Ross of Mexia, along FM 39 in Madison County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, they were riding behind a 1985 Ford Pickup truck that attempted to make a left turn.

Mr. Ross, who was driving the motorcycle, could not slow down in time and lost control.

Angela Ross was thrown from the bike.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
I cannot even begin to imagine the torment her surviving husband is going to go through for the rest of his life.

I've probably written about it before on here (at least on the Automotive Board anyway) but one of my close co-workers in Denver was prone to knocking back a few (I figured out later he was a full-on Alcoholic - apparently in the 1970s he was on more than just alcohol) and riding his motorcycle home. But, he was very safety minded (apart from the drinking and riding). He told me that he would never get on the bike until after he had already put on $2,000 worth of safety gear - boots, helmet, pants, jacket, etc.

Where I live in Sydney, Australia, I am convinced that I am going to kill someone on a motorcycle or a moped one of these days because of the way they weave in and out of traffic like the rules of the road don't apply to them and that somehow they're exempt from the laws of physics.

Don't get me wrong, I'm lucky to be alive after somewhere between Riesel and Elm Mott, me and a HS buddy came over a hill and were barely able to stop in time when there was a cow standing in the middle of the road.

This is a tragic loss but hopefully the husband can get behind some kind of motorcycle safety program and take something positive away. Kind of like the buckle up campaign in Kansas City after #58 Derrick Thomas lost his life because he wasn't wearing his seatbelt. Or my MHS buddy David Delucenay. You know how many kids get in my car and think they're not going to wear their seatbelt? They get tired of hearing my David Delucenay lecture so they at least buckle up in my car anyway.

Channel 25 has more details on their web site.

NORMANGEE - A Groesbeck High School teacher died in a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon near Normangee.

At around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Groesbeck High School teacher Angela Ross and her husband were driving a motorcycle on FM 39 near Texas OSR, when her husband had to stop abruptly to avoid rear-ending a truck.

The motorcycle then skidded on the road and ejected Ross.

Bryan DPS says the woman was pronounced dead on the scene. Her husband was taken to a hospital in Waco in stable condition with broken ribs and a broken leg.

Neither Ross nor her husband was wearing a helmet.
The Groesbeck Journal has a few more details.

Angela Faye Ross, 43, of Mexia was riding with her husband on his 2010 Harley- Davidson near Normangee when the accident occurred, according to a report by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Ben Wolf.
This is one of my fears when friends of mine with too much disposable income start talking about how they want to get a Harley for their 40th Birthday or something like that. This is so sad.

I know it seems like I've spent way to much time on this but I'm stuck with nothing to do and Internet access while I wait for some Windows Server Updates to finish running
