He is from Borger High School. I don't know much about him. He's young. I wish there was a resource to find a bio on him.

I know he will be a great improvement over the last AD.

He's. One of my best friends cousins. From what she has said he's gonna be good. Of course she is biased.

'81 - here's what I turned up in 30 seconds worth of Google. Of course it took more than 30 seconds to TexAgs format this.

Article in the Borger News Herald - Borger AD accepts job in Taylor
quote:
On Tuesday morning, Purser said one of the big appeals in the Taylor opening was the opportunity to be closer to family. Purser said, “We have several family members who live within 30 minutes of Taylor, so the opportunity to be be closer to our family was very appealing to my whole family.”
While the Ducks have seen limited success on the football field in recent years, Purser said the program has a great group of underclassmen coming up, which should allow the Ducks to continue to be in playoff contention.
Purser will also have some familiarity within the Taylor School District as he had worked with the school's superintendent in Floydada prior to coming to Borger.
Purser is finishing his third year with Borger ISD where he led the Bulldog football program to three District 1-3A titles, posting a 20-14 record that includes a 2-3 record in the playoffs.
Prior to Purser's arrival in 2009, the Bulldogs had failed to reach the playoffs three years in a row and posted a 2-8 record in 2008.
Article in the Amarillo Globe-News - Highland Park, Borger High football coaches resign
quote:
Purser, who was hired at Borger in 2009, will take over as Class 3A Taylor ISD’s athletic director and head football coach.

Purser said he will begin his Taylor duties on Tuesday.

“I was happy in Borger,” Purser said. “I’m not sure there will ever be a place again I coach where the community, administration and students showed so much enthusiasm and support. That was amazing.

“The main reason Taylor was appealing is we have several family members who live in that area. That opportunity to be closer to our family was appealing to my whole family. I’ve never had that opportunity in coaching before.”

Taylor went 3-8 last year in football, but made the Class 3A Division II playoffs and opened eyes with a 38-31 double overtime bidistrict loss to eventual state champion Wimberley.

Purser made a huge impact on the struggling Borger football program, leading the Bulldogs to three straight District 1-3A football titles. He posted a 20-14 overall record.

The Bulldogs were 2-3 in playoff games under Purser, reaching the Region I-3A Division II championship in 2010.

Borger ISD superintendent Chance Welch said Purser took Borger athletics to high standards.

“Our athletic program experienced much success under coach Purser’s leadership,” Welch said. “We appreciate the high expectations and commitment to excellence he instilled. We wish coach Purser well in his future endeavors.”

Thanks...I picked up on those press releases a couple of days after my "post."

I wonder how early Dave Campbell's has to have their material in before publishing. It was a great magazine years ago, but I'm not so sure anymore.

I talked to a few people since the post and found he has his coaches use the "I" formation in middle school through 9th grade and then, adds a lot of the "pistol" to it in high school.

He is working with the offense and installing the "I" at the middle school and it looks like more "pistol" formations than anything at the high school. He is also getting the kids involved in a lot of the 7 on 7 tournaments over the summer.

The kids are very excited about their workouts and the future. I have a good feeling about this coach/athletic director.

Participation is up from last year for cross country, football, and volleyball. We'll see after "2 a days" etc. It does sound exciting and the kids seem to be "on board."
