Yeah, there is a lot of Belton ISD coverage. But let's be honest - probably close to half of Belton ISD lives in the City of Temple, which is what the Telegram is supposed to cover.
Bo, the Temple paper, like many dailies, has seemed to put a focus on local news on the front page. Makes sense to sell papers, since most state and national news is accessed on internet in this era
I kid. When I first started working here I just thought it was some self esteem issues from TISD people claiming the TDT had bias. But after 4 years here... I see it. I know Belton is bigger but the coverage isn't exactly equal. And the smaller schools don't get much better. Coming from San Angelo and having attended a smaller school in the area I do know the pain of having your accomplishments brushed over for the bigger schools in town. Belton did have a lot going on this year with the two new technology based schools and huge ( and contested) bond go through so I get that somewhat. But I do see some of what Jan is implying
I don't know what y'all did to tick off the Mayborns....
I think it was a day later because the results are given out so late. Salado performed on Monday and Rogers on Tuesday. Awards are given out around 11pm when the paper has probably already gone to print so it seemed late but it really wasn't because of the timing.
That being said our district is going to be one heck of a district for OAP next year. 2 defending state champs in Salado & Rogers and Cameron & Lexington have both been to Regionals over the past 2 years. Should be some great plays.
Yes and with total irony, the two year we did not have to deal with Salado in our district I was teaching at the middle school. I had very limited access to my high school uil kids for coaching. Now I am moving back to the high school and Salado is back. That's life.
I agree Jan. It was probably a blessing this year to be at the middle with my health issues, but I am doing so well and I really really missed my big kids.
