any good places in waco to watch the games? or re-runs of the games?

BJs just opened. Surely they have some of the games showing. I'm looking forward to checking it out. Has anyone been yet? Thoughts?

I haven't been to BJs, but I'm not sure that's where you would want to go to watch anything right now, since it is currently experiencing "Waco New Restaurant Syndrome." Looks packed every time I drive by.

i was at BJs in Temple last night and they were showing it. And it's 4 years later and it's still packed down here. probably because it's awesome.

Question for the Waco people. While the food is amazing here, the service has always been sub-par at best. Literally never had a good experience with the wait staff. Is y'all's any better?

c-jags - no. i've never been to a bj's where the waitstaff was good and the food took less than 45 minutes to come out.

they did have good screens, but yeah i don't really see being able to watch the games there because it's too crowded right now for opening week

It's been open less than a week, probably hard to get a reliable review.

I went to a BJ's in Addison that was actually pretty quick.

(Still only batting 50% though, the one in McAllen was slow as heck).

We went to the one in College Station a while back and the service was pretty good.

I took my mom to an early dinner at Cheddars tonight. It was empty. Usually, there is a wait at 5 PM, tonight, there were 8 parking spaces in front and no wait at all. There was still no wait when leaving.

I guess everyone is waiting in line at BJ's.

We went to BJ's in Waco yesterday and had sort of a funny experience. I used to let stuff this like make me mad. First off, I had my A&M shirt on and she asked if we were Aggies. I said yes. Then she asked if we'd ever been to BJ's and we said yes, in College Station. She replied that everything in Waco is better than College Station (odd remark).

We had gotten there at 11 AM on Sunday specifically to beat the crowd. Our appetizer came out quick and she said something like "wow, it's nice to have something come out from the kitchen quick for a change."

Overall good service and food, but our waitress made a couple odd remarks like that.

I had heard that BJ's is owned by an Aggie
Maybe she needs to be reminded who signs her checks.

Wait 'til I open my Indian place in Waco where I show all the IPL and all the 5-Day Test matches

We went to the one in Addison and it was really good...the one in Waco has a 2hr wait most evenings.

Went to BJs at 11:15 a couple of Sundays ago in Waco and no wait. By 11:30 the place was packed. Wait was a little longer than I'd like, but not too bad. We don't even try for dinner. 2 hrs sounds about right.

People really wait 2 hours to get seated at a restaurant?

i don't care how good a place is...i'm not waiting 2 hours.

For BJ's, I don't think I'd wait 30 minutes. It's good, but nothing special.

30 minutes is the absolute LONGEST I'd wait. And that's only if:

A. One of my objectives is to get hammered, and

B. The restaurant has a decent bar I can sit and drink in while waiting for my table

Other than that, no way. When I walk in and see people sitting in the entry way waiting for a table, I turn my ass around and head back to the car...

It's especially amplified with three young kids. We really won't wait more than 15 minutes when the kids are with us.
