While we had a little water issue, the Temple city government is a bunch of idiots if they think this is a disaster (they declared it so this morning.) They have threatened to fine and arrest people over a water shortage that should last a few hours. Pathetic excuse for leadership in my humble opinion. Bureaucrats trying to seize control of things they seem clueless about.

It is weird to see all businesses closed as it was on the way from church. Even those that couple probably operate without water.

Serious loss of revenue here.

Hopefully they will have water restored soon now that the transformer is fixed.

I am guessing fear of a fire and not having the water to fight it was what motivated the decree.

And people do need to rememnber that post 9/11 advise to keep at least a gallon jug of bottled water in your house at all times. It will see you through a short term emergency.

Now allowing business and commerce to reopen if they do NOT use any water at all.

That and to keep enough pressure and water in the system to supply Scott and White (the highest point in Temple).

i think criticizing the mayor and police for the lockdown is a bit harsh. Tough thing to deal with when pressure drops and there's nothing you can do for a time. you have to make sure Scott and White can function. it inconvenienced us a good bit, but life went on.

now... criticizing the town/mayor for not having enough water to last past 24 hours or a backup in this situation. yes, that's turrible.

S&W used to be the highest point, but I think now there are places in annexed far north Temple (Wilson Art/McLane's area) that are a little higher.

But yes, good point about S&W, high points, water pressure issues, etc.

S and W main hospital at least should have a dedicated tower.

I just hate to see how much money was lost by business owners. I imagine the grocery stores has to close their restrooms to stay open. No reason that retail could not do the same thing. Plus I can see that many places already had done major cooking for the day-donut shops for instance. No reason not to at least let people stay open to try to sell those perishable goods.

If the treatment center is so important, then have backup generators. What would they do if the power grid failed?
