Very cool little college joint. Good pizza too. It's got a neat little outdoor patio. Went for the first time last week and went back this week. That's the kind of places Waco needs more of.

Yeah Shorty has been in there both times we went. Seems like a good guy. Didn't wear A&M gear though. haha.

But yeah, it's one of those mom and pop type shops you want to make it. Something Waco needs more of. Felt like a college campus-type place.

Lunch special was a couple slices of pizza (they have 5-6 slices of the day) and a drink for $5.50. Got that. Like I said, pretty good pizza.

Yep! It's was pretty good, if your over by Baylor and want a quick tasty lunch for pretty cheap I'm all over it.

If I want to go out and get pizza that I like better, (while paying a lot) I'll probably go to pappa rollos before shortys. But that's just me!

Poppa Rollo's are owned by a bunch of dirty hippies. That gives Shorty's the advantage for me.

Plus Shorty's has the large cans of Foster's.

Shortys does have really cheap beer!

I like rosati's. The Chicago style deep dish is a real novelty that you really can't get anywhere else around here. Get the Chicago-Deep dish "Monster".

Pappa Rollos always smells funky to me, especially in the back room. Last time I went it smelled like a wet dog.

Rosatis gets my vote for best pizza in town, you'll just have to pay for it!

Just a little friendly heads up - if you want a chicago deep dish at Rosatis, want to dine in. and don't have a lot of time, call your order in so they can get started on it. The deep dishers take about 45 minutes to cook, and theyve always been willing to get it started in the oven before we get there.

One time I called in a dine-in deep dish order, and when I got there they even had a table reserved for us with my name on it.

Went to Rosati's last week with my daughters. We got a pasta dish, salad and a calzone...all of it was good. Two weeks ago the whole family went and we called in a Chicago in advance.

Rosati's is way better than any other pizza place in Waco. Papa Rollo's was okay when they sponsored my kid's teams and we went there with smelly kids after a game....couldn't tell if the funk was the team or Rollo's!

Just an FYI if you haven't heard, there is a Wise Guys Chicago style eatery opening up soon in the new shopping center across from Carinos. We'll see if it gives Rosatis a run for its money?! I think they specialize on Chicago Dogs, but they will serve pizza as well. Anyone ever been to the location in Killeen?

The first Wise Guys was in Harker Heights. Opened about 3 years ago and took off like a rocket - even though it didn't sell pizza because their building couldn't handle a pizza oven (which is not unusual). It is very good and the owners are very nice.

They opened one in Killeen and it sounds like one in Waco as well, both of which I assume will sell pizza. I only go to the one in Heights so I have not had their pizza at the other locations, but am looking forward to trying it. I VERY much recommend the place. It is excellent.

***EDIT*** to reflect a VERY recent update to their web site (I ain't kidding, I think they updated the site within the last 2 hours! LOL):

Wise Guys is consolidating their West Bell County operations into one location in Killeen on Willow Springs.

The Waco location on Valley Mills is apparently open, or will be within a week or so.

They are opening one in Temple around the end of 2012.

The menus do not include pizza, so it appears they are staying out of the pizza joint business, at least for now.

That's fine with me. There is a pizza joint on every corner, and the overhead to cook those things is probably very high. Although I would like to see a Chicago style pizza joint in Bell County someday (no, Old Chicago doesn't qualify as Chicago style deep dish, although their pizza is pretty damn good).

Wise Guys is unique - Chicago (Italian) style sandwiches, dogs, burgers, cheese steaks.... Great food and service!!!
