They can't just move a school up or down a classification because its convenient. The enrollment cutoffs are what they are, set by the UIL...
Your west texas schools that were near each other but in different districts were probably in different classifications, right? Or, you were in a district with an outlier -- the El Paso schools. In other words, the El Paso schools had to be put somewhere, and I guess y'all were the closest thing they could find to form a district...
The thing that makes the current 2-A situation egregious is these nearby schools ARE in the SAME classification, yet are in different districts.
The reason is the UIL decided to divide 2A into small and large school divisions for the regular season, rather than the playoffs like every other classification.
The result is local schools in the SAME classification being split and sent to separate districts and unnecessarily long road trips SOLEY because 2A is split during the regular season...
