I always feel like the curb is gonna Jack up my axle when I pull in there coming from 2nd after the light. I actually noticed the selection on top of the floor cooler, today, but no Heineken light is no sales from me. And of course they have a walk in. Nomads is the best wine selection in the temple/Belton metroplex. Sharmin does good.

They have your Lagunitas -- regular and Maximus

Bought some yesterday

And several other brands of IPA

I'd say the place has the best selection of craft beer by the six pack in the area, including HEB and Specs

Specs has more of those single 24 ounce bottles, but I don't but those anyway...

Nomads does have an awesome wine selection, and a decent craft beer selection though not as extensive as the downtown Valero

I bought a lot of dip there.

I remember after their remodel they added a lot of beer and it was close to work but I never thought to go there to bring any home.

Intrigued.

I'm gonna stop by there Tuesday.

I will report back accordingly!

If anything I probably missed a brand or two

They have a ton of other stuff too, as well as a new section of single serving craft beers, and the new cooler added about 2 weeks ago

Not at that Valero. Just the one at 121 & 190 and 35 & midway.

Yeah, I've had to wait at those too, but now that I think about it, it is usually the numbnut in front of me asking dumb questions or trying to make up his mind which scratch off ticket to buy

Valeros usually irk me when I have to go inside to get a receipt. If I wanted to go inside I would have paid inside for my fuel!!! Otherwise make the dang thing outside work!!

But they usually have cheaper fuel, free coffee when spurs when playoff games, when I dipped they carried my brand, and now apparently they have my IPA Mecca.

I think the difference is that the store at 2nd sells Valero gas but it's not a Valero store. Where the others are Valero stores and gas. Fiesta wine has become my favorite. We discovered it at nomads. Heb and specs sell it too, but a much smaller selection than nomads has.

Sooooooo..... I stopped by Los valeros. And it does not dissapoint.



I picked up the founders day IPA. Looking forward to trying it. Nice find Pablo!!

This is good news for when I'm back home seeing family. That new HEB's selection looks amazing, but it's not. HEB has a long way to go, and I'm speaking specifically to the ones I frequent in Austin.

Drive by there everyday on the way home. Need to check it out. not an IPA fan though.

Stopped in last night. Good selection and reasonably priced. Build your own 6 pack was fun. They were really nice and said they'd get others in if I wanted them. Just to let them know. I'll be back for sure

I'm pretty impressed to see Tiger from Malaysia in there. Belton is looking better and better all the time.

Stone brews? I can't find regular Stone Pale Ale anywhere. I've seen Stone IPA or Arrogant ******* at HEB and Specs, along with some seasonal stuff, but not Pale Ale...

Specs in Temple has Stone Pale Ale

Valero at 2d and Main does not have Stone Pale Ale

Gonna have to go to Specs for that one

never been an adventurous beer drinker. drink lots of beer, just always miller light with occasional shiner or ziegenbock. Wanting to try some new stuff, so what's a good recommendation for a newby?

Well, that depends on what type of beer you like

Malty ale? Hoppy ale? Dark stout? Light (Pilsner or lager)?

I like India Pale Ale or "IPA" (Lagunitas, Dogfish head, Stone, Deep Ellum) but it ain't for everybody. IPA is "hoppy", which means they use a lot of hops in the brewing process. Gives it a citrusy, but somewhat bitter flavor. IMO the American craft breweries are the best in this category.

If you like "malty" which is smooth, sweeter, less bitter, I like the British ales the best. Bass Pale Ale and Belhaven Scottish Ale are probably my favorites

If you prefer the lighter stuff, try pilsner urquel or Czeckvar (sp?). Both good Czech Pilsner beers..

If you want to just sample various types of beer made by American craft breweries, I recommend Lagunitas, Stone, and Dogfishhead as breweries that put out VERY high quality stuff...

The good news is ----- It's beer. It isn't like they are gonna run out. Sampling and finding out what you like is a BIG part of the fun...




Here's a great idea that we've had a lot of fun with:
We have had beer parties with a group of people (5-7 couples, usually) where each couple brings a sample or 2 of their favorites. Each person samples each beer, and gives it a score on a scale of 1 to 10, and you add up the scores after everything has been tried...

We have also done this at parties with wine, scotch, bourbon, cocktails, etc....

VERY fun way to try a variety of stuff....
