Anyone know of any good ones? I've got a toddler who seems to enjoy it quite a bit and it's one of the few activities that can keep him interested for longer than 5-10 minutes.

Really just looking for a place to catch perch and maybe a few bass. The pond up the hill at Lions Park is really close to our place but it's looking pretty rough; broken aerator and algae everywhere. Anyone fished the park/pond behind the VA hospital? Is it actually open to the public? Any other nearby spots worth checking out?

I couldn't find anything specific about Sammons, but I'm referring to that pond adjacent to the 6th and 7th fairways.

I think there's a back way to get there but I can't remember what street you take

Ave. K maybe (???) off the SB I-35 feeder might be it, but I don't know if construction has affected access

Another suggestion is Nolan Creek.

Plenty of perch in there, and the occasional bass. I have also seen large catfish in there below the old Central Ave. bridge

And if none of that works out, throw some dough bait on a hook and catch a 10 pound carp around the main street bridge

The pond by Sammons is Marvin Fenn Recreation Area 702 S.57th. There are some perch in there with a pier. Actually has a playground too, so they can do something else if it doesn't hold their interest. There are some shady looking characters around dusk though but I've never had a problem.

Bunch of big ol' carp in the pool behind Coronas and The Gin right now

No, not the goal of any serious angler, but man it would be a blast for you and the toddler. He'd love it!!

Lots of small perch, too

Did not see any catfish or bass but that doesn't mean they're not there..

Wear polarized shades. The water is crystal clear right now and you can see the fish from where you're standing

Creek bank is about a 15 foot walk from your parked car
