Any Ags in Dawson's Ranch? My wife and I are going to be building a new home in the neighborhood and were wondering how big our first Aggie Game Day Party would be.

We will be in the new phase on Silver Spur. Our lot is the only lot currently not developed on the block. Glad to know there are Ags in the area. When we move in (approx. 5 months from now) we will have an Aggie Happy Hour at our new place. You will all be invited!

P.S. How do yall like the area? When is the community pool going in?

How close is that to the dam to dam road going in? It looks very close on Google maps. Those poor homeowners in mystic mountain. They had no idea I assume that a road was going to butt up to their fences.

Dam road will be much closer to south fork and escalera.

Rock- my old roommate will be right around the corner on twin ridge (on the corner actually)

It's a road going in that supposedly will tie in Belton dam to stillhouse dam. They've already started on part of it that will cross Sparta rd to wheat rd. It's parallel to the mystic mountain rd on the map pic. It does make sense it's closer to escalera. It's to alleviate traffic I guess.

A road will eventually connect Belton Dam and Stillhouse Dam. It is easy to see on Google Earth or Google Maps. The city of Belton has a 100' strip through red rock hills and dawson ranch. It will connect up with Wheat road on the other side.

http://www.google.com/maps/@31.0947863,-97.4773641,16z

The strip goes between S. Fork and Matador.

A side note: The Lower Colorado River Authority already buys water from the Brazos River Authority (Lake Georgetown). They put in a water line from stillhouse lake to lake georgegtown. I think the LCRA wanted to buy more water rights and the BRA said they had some water available in Lake Belton. They needed a way to get water from Belton Lake to Stillhouse (and then to Georgetown). So they are currently building a water line to connect the two. The dam to dam road is really a result of the dam to dam water line.

It will help with traffic too I guess.

Thanks for the info. I don't think it will be to much of a concern for us...at least I hope not.

Is it the lot on the corner of Twin Ridge and Silver Spur? If so, I saw them out there a few days ago looking at the lot. It looked like they were showing it off to their parents or something...

The long term plan is for the road to go thru salado to Georgetown. It should relieve a lot of traffic from 317, 121 and 439. From my house off of 190 there's not a good way to get to west temple, 2305 and so much is moving out there. I either have to take 93 to 121 to lake rd to 317 (which is a death trap, IMO) or 93 to 439 (another death trap, IMO) cross the damn then I'm on 2305. The 2nd route is better because I avoid a lot of lights. Taking wheat rd all the way to the Belton dam seems so much better. For those of you that live in west temple, the Belton dam to stillhouse dam then on to salado would let you avoid a lot of I35 south construction from temple thru Belton when, if you travel south often. This road will compliment a lot more than a water line.

Just to clarify a little bit, the water line that is planned to go in right now with the dam to dam road is going to be owned by the City of Belton, and used solely to provide water to residents and businesses. While the idea to build water line to move water from Lake Belton to Stillhouse is on the Brazos River Authority's long term plan, it isn't directly tied to the road project like the City water line.

Seems the city's plans have been detoured due to funding.

I did some environmental work on a stretch of the proposed water line. I wasn't given a whole lot of details on it, but nothing was ever mentioned about LCRA or transport to Stillhouse. Only that it was municipal.

Yep. We did the clearing and the bid to the contractor was awarded from the city. Of course the city sometimes pays for it up front and gets paid back from txdot. That's how temple did the north loop expansion. They're paying right now, but txdot over sees and pays them back. Belton must really want this road. I feel bad for the folks that live along boxer.

I may have been mistaken. I had heard that there would eventually be a water line to connect the lakes, but I wasn't able to find anything online. The only thing I could turn up was user comments on articles referencing a transmission line between the lakes, but nothing concrete.

There is a plan to put in that connection eventually, but it is completely in the hands of the Brazos River Authority, who owns the water rights to both lakes. Local governments (county; city) don't have any power to either push the progress forward nor stop it, though I imagine both will at least ask BRA not to build the line. If citizens would like to protest the building of the line, we can lobby the BRA directly, or try lobbying our state representatives, as BRA is quasi-governmental. However, at the end of the day, it is 'their' water, and they can do what they want with it.

If you would like to read more about the BRA's plan, the link below will pull up a word doc containing the BRA's plans for long-term resevoir connections among a number of lakes. Skip down to section: 4B.20.2 Lake Belton to Lake Stillhouse Hollow Pipeline.

My wife and I signed the contract for the house last night so we are a go. Should see construction in a few weeks. I am looking forward to meeting the Ags in the area!

Also, thanks for the info and the great discussion on the dam to dam road. It is my understanding that it will not cause much of a headache where we are located.

You must live in a different section. TW not currently available where I am. I've heard that they are 60-90 days out. I have seen TWC folks poking around so I believe they will get there sometime.
