I am cleaning closets and such this summer. I have many clothing items that I was going to just throw away, then decided someone might use them. Used to take these things to Martha's Kitchen, but since they are gone, I tried to find a donation place locally and at least online had no luck. I don't even want a donation receipt, just hate to throw something away someone else might need. Any suggestions? I will be throwing away on Saturday if I don't get a better idea by then.

I do not want to deal with a garage sale. They are really hard to do if you are along and older, and I really don't want many people to realize I am older and alone.

I could not find a location for a goodwill drop off box online? Anyone know where one is?

I always look for the Ronald McDonald house drop boxes. I know they are out there. Or a Scott & White hospice store?

There's a Goodwill store off of 31st and Canyon Creek. It's very easy to drop stuff off there.

Do any of them just have the large drop off bins so I don't have to worry about going inside and talking to people. I just want to drop the things off.

The big Goodwill store on 31st street in Temple has people that come out to your vehicle if you drive up around back. They will unload everything for you. You don't even have to get out of the vehicle. They will ask if you want a donation receipt but you don't have to take one which even more do expedites the process.

Adapt of Texas sends us monthly notices of when they are to be in the Waco area. They have a brick and mortar resale just like Goodwill but they also give clothing to special needs individuals. We have been using them about 4-5 years.

They are usually here on Wednesdays once a month and they ask that items be on front porch by 7AM and clearly marked AT. We emailed them that porch was away from street and not highly visible when the truck approached so we would leave items by garage. We were contacted same day that it was thoughtful and the driver had been alerted. You clean out your closet and place all of it on porch...it's that easy.

What type of items? I know the maternity shelter is always needing items, not only for the babies but for the mothers as well. There are also donation boxes for Medina childrens home around town.

Something I do with clothes is take them to Western Hills Church of Christ. There is a building right by the overpass that has a dock....just leave your stuff on the dock and they'll take care of it. They give it to people in need, from the interstate, etc.

I do it on weekends in the morning, and they come in later in the day and deal with it.
