Well that's the example Susan and the health department used yesterday. Because of whooping cough outbreaks, they were prepared to deal with this. And I realize it's not an outbreak but since they don't know how to clean the schools, I take it they aren't prepared. And sitting three feet from someone isn't that far. Assuming there even was Ebola in the schools, the only way to clean the schools that would get every surface would be to either wipe down everything(walls, doorknobs, desks, chairs, floors, etc) with something like bleach, or turn the entire school into one giant autoclave and steam clean the whole thing. And since Ebola can only survive for a few hours outside the body anyways (unless it's living in a pile of human fluid/waste), anything that could've been in the school likely died yesterday.

The superintendent said the schools were closing for a thorough cleaning of the schools and buses. KCEN had an update before the PC saying they weren't sure how to clean them.

It's just an extra precaution. I honestly think it's fine. But if it gives the public peace of mind it's fine by me.

may or may not be glad to be working there in Admin right now. Sincerely, i feel bad for the administrators. they are in a darned if you do, darned if you don't right now spot. All criticisms of BISD Admin aside, i wouldn't want to be in their shoes for the next few months.

The freshman football game vs Leander has been cancelled. I wonder if bisd cancelled it or Leander isd.

I believe Leander cancelled it.

This whole thing will be a Poop show before next week comes and goes.

My son said he had about 5 kids missing today and that every class was missing at least one student.

I actually ran into her in Temple this weekend and caught up.

I got the job before she did. She was in TiSD before she was in BISD. I have seen her several times, however.

i taught her daughter.

People in Belton think it's our kids that are bad. I find that hilarious.

Hazmat team from Dallas cleaned the two schools. The superintendent said this wa$ above and beyond what'$ required. The family is in lockdown and being monitored daily. The dad is being paid by artco bell but not sure about mom's employer. There's been a financial outpouring from the community. They will donate what they don't need. Many are taking up collections of board and video games for them. That's all I got.

I'd like to believe Joe Pirtle would have handled this better.

So there's more? It's not confirmed, just assumed that the artco bell employee was a parent of the kids on the plane. I assume it's a "dad" because I'm sexist like that. I assume he's the parent of the bisd kids because of geography.

I did talk to 2 principals at affected campuses this weekend and they were pretty wore from the experience, but feel that they did the best they can do. Also felt a lot of love from BISD parents.

I don't think so. I talked to a friend last night that kept their kids home, even though they went to different schools and they were going back today. I think this wore on all the teachers in the district. A friend teaches at Chisholm trail, but one child goes to NBMS and another to Leon Heights and she's wiped out but glad things are back to normal today.

this is a big week in America's quarantining of the virus. If we have no more infected people arise this week and we do a good job with border security, we should be in the clear as far as this "outbreak."

Obviously, we still have work to do in Liberia and west Africa, but no news is good news right now.

Outside of Ebola, it's fun to see people with children going to Leon Heights. That's where I went, and my brother went before me, and it gives me good memories of my grandmother making the rounds as the elementary counselor.
