I'm not a craft beer person but this seems cool for downtown but not a great location.

Nice. If all the various plans to renovate/develop downtown come together, it could really transform that whole area.

Temple really could have an awesome downtown, they just need some people to hit homeruns. There's been a lot of good places open up and fail in the last few years. Hondeux, Railhead (stupid), Duckhorn, Molly's, Cotton Exchange, etc.

Cheeve's, Dib's, Wes', and Pignetti's have stood the test of time for now, a few bars that last and something to make people want to linger down there could be it. Get a draft house, ice cream parlor, draft house, or something of the like to stay and it's a gold mine. If it had millions to pour into it, it would be a lot of fun. Do something with the Arcadia and older buildings.

They need to get some better lighting down town. It's still hard for me to feel safe walking from cheeves to Obrien's. I read an article about a downtown upgrade a city did and bright street lamps were a big priority. As well as aesthetic planters and some type of directory. I KNOW it's not the same, but look at south congress and how well it's lit up at night. Heck downtown grapevine is a neat place to spend an evening. The city wants the businesses down there but they need to back it up with better infrastructure.

Lights and green space are both part of the things I've heard that are going to be addressed.

Like you, I think it could be a great area...just needs a little help.

To be fair, Duckhorn didn't close because of a lack of business. That place was always packed. The two owners got in some legal trouble and had to close it.

I am downtown a lot. I have never felt unsafe. Weird how some of you view Temple.

anyway...yes, the Temple BJs is going to be the national center for BJs from Texas eastward.

This is a huge deal.

Good for Tempke.

in other contruction news: WalMart 2305 looks not too far from being completed, and Buc-cees north of town looks like they have all the building work done as well, just aesthetics and gas pumps remaining

BJ's beer is surprisingly good

I don't know why I'm surprised. Maybe because they are a chain.

Doesn't matter. It's still good
