Why the corners that are being paved in Temple?

Was this a grant, because I don't like the idea when there are no sidewalks. All the way out Adams to the loop and on other roads. When they did it in downtown I thought it was for just making downtown look better, but then they did it on West Adams where there are no sidewalk, just expensive looking paved corners. If with local money, I would think they could have put it to better use.

Had the same exact thought last week, except the thought was, even if this was done with a grant, this appears to be a waste of funds and the grant money could have been better spent elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure it was all TXDOT money. I'm sure the City will now spend money or go after grants for sidewalks to connect the ramps.

Federal highway money washed through TXDoT, hence have to follow Federal accessability standards. There are always strings attached.

So they wheel down a busy street like west adams, then at the corner, move onto the corner thing for five paces or rolls, then back into the middle of the street.
