Just moved to Belton near the lake and it is about time I get a line wet. Anyone want to share their secret honey hole or take a fellow Ag out and show him where to fish?

Dunno. We used to call it "The Dead Sea" back in the day

Thanks dixichkn. I will fish for anything. Grew up fishing for cats mostly. I'd like to get into bass and crappie. Really anything that will bite.

"The Dead Sea" doesn't sound promising.

Well it's not the hottest fishing lake in the world but it can be decent at times. Not known for bass. Better catfish and crappie lake

its been awhile since I've fished out there, but you should be able to catch as many crappie as you want when the spawn hits In a few weeks

White jigs in protected coves at the upper end of the lake around the 36 bridge would be a good starting point

a buddy of mine catches a lot around Morgans point and Cedar Ridge as well.

I'm not a fishing guy,...I know someone whose spouse is a guide on the lake. Been told he is very good, and mostly takes clients looking for bass.

we've had a lot of luck with this guy.. It's my folks that live in belton so I'm not even sure if our trips were on stillhouse or lake belton.. may be worth a day trip to learn the lake with a local.

Do you have a boat? If so I can give you several locations for all species. Did a whole lot of black bass fishing on that lake, and exponentially more white bass fishing. If you're bank fishing I can also give you a few spots, but that will be more limited.

Thanks for all the replies. I have the means to do both boat and bank fishing! I am all ears.

I'll take a bank fishing recommendation

Its hard fishing right now specially for Blacks. Give it a couple of more weeks and the Whites will start their run.

For the most part, the white bass run is not really that fishable along the lake outline.

I was lucky to have some access to areas that were fairly secure regarding USACE access, but fishable if you traveled up-stream.

You need to consider that in a month or two the shad will be spawning and the whites and hybrids will be insane around arrowhead point. You can catch the big fish from the bank, but if you have an available boat, you'll have a much better chance at catching some big fish.

The shad spawn is awesome. I hope you hit it right.
